                                            Despite the confirmed advance reservation we were made to wait for 25 minutes. The waiter was friendly/helpful and the food was decent. Despite the fairly expensive prices the bill included an extra 5% for med insurance (scam) plus customary tip and tax. So if paying tax and tip on top of the med tax is your cup of tea, it's probably a good place for you.

                                            What happened to Yank Sing? I recently had lunch there, and the experience was disappointing from the start. Walking in at noon to find a mostly empty restaurant was surprising—I assumed it was due to the low occupancy of nearby office buildings. Unfortunately, the food and service were just as sparse. Our water glasses were only refilled when I specifically asked, and the dim sum carts were few and far between. Worse, two of the steam basket items arrived cold and rubbery—completely unacceptable for a lunch for two people that totaled $150 before tip. I'll give the Stevenson Street location a try in the coming weeks and hope for a better experience. Otherwise, Yank Sing may sadly be yet another storied San Francisco restaurant that has lost its shine. Luckily, the city still offers plenty of excellent dim sum spots!
