Ristorante Villa Francesca, in the North End of Boston, Massachusetts, is the brain child of Guglielmo Ranauro. Through his desire for perfection and pure love of the Italian cuisine, Guglielmo created Villa Francesca over thirty years ago. He bestowed the name Francesca after his mother, never forgetting the love and wonderful food she always provided while growing up just across the street from the restaurant. Villa Francesca boasts over 160 wine selections, and has received the prestigious Wine Enthusiast and Wine Spectator awards since 2007. You've got to try the raw bar!

We love Italian food and this food just didn’t taste good. Even the bread was underwhelming. I’m not sure why open tables reviews on this place are so much higher than yelp. Next time I will believe the Yelp rating.

We arrived on time for our reservation and waited about 5 minutes to be seated in the cellar of the restaurant. It was extremely noisy and tight in the cellar and at one point a ceiling tile fell down and wires hung out. Servers bustled around us but a server did not greet our table for 15 -20 minutes. When she did arrive, she was sullen and annoyed which was strange given we were the ones who should have been annoyed yet we were quite friendly to her. We ordered bottled still water and drinks from the bar, bread, and 2 appetizers. Bar drinks arrived but no water. When appetizers arrived, 1 of the 2 breads we requested arrived. We asked for the bottled water again. Asked the server a question about a menu item which she never answered. The eggplant appetizer was delicious and the calamari was rubbery. After about an hour and 10 minutes, we decided to exit to eat dinner across the street. Server did not inquire as to why we were exiting and continued to look annoyed with us as we exited. I am guessing that eating on the main level with a server who enjoyed their job could have been a better experience. However, we will not be returning to find out. Highly recommend Aqua Pazza where they fit us in and welcomed us as if we were family.

DO NOT EAT HERE!!!! I don’t know where to begin…..I brought my daughter to Boston on a trip for her birthday and we saw they had the pasta wheel that they cooked table-side. Four other tables were seated after us and received full meals before we even received our appetizers. My daughter looked at the table beside us and looked at me in disappointment. To explain to my daughter about racism in this world is insane as she sees me and my friends of all different colors and nationalities. As the waitress saw me looking around she proceeded to rush upstairs and then my appetizer finally came down. I told her cancel the rest of my food I didn’t want anything else. I would pay for what I had and leave, she brought the host down and he proceeded to let me know how he would comp parts of my bill and what did I want. I let him know that I would pay for what we ate and I didn’t want anything else! This was the most embarrassing experience I have ever had and as a veteran I have been to multiple countries and never been treated like this.

I have been going there for almost 40 yrs. Worst experience I have ever had. We heard the waitress yell "I just wanna go home" in the back area. She acted like waiting on us was the worst chore. Food quality has gone way down. Love that place, but they need to make it better

Disappointing - service and food didn’t live up to expectations. Caprese salad excellent but main courses very average. Service ok but felt like you were being processed. Bothered by flies throughout

I was a little disappointed in the dish I ordered. The artichokes were hard and tough to cut and the dish was just ok. I was excited to try this place but I found it to be quite loud and my meal was average. My friend’s eggplant dish was slightly better.
