The Troll Pub opened on October 19th 2011, underneath the 2nd Street Bridge in a 135 year old space directly next to the YUM Center on historic Whiskey Row. The Troll Pub is a subterranean retreat that features a Gastro-pub style menu with a wide selection of great tasting food items, craft beer, local artwork, and an overall atmosphere unique to Louisville. We are just blocks from the Louisville Convention Center and only steps away from many of the hottest attractions and hotels situated downtown. Just look for the Troll on the corner of 2nd and Washington, he will show you the way.

It was boring, food was standard pub fare. Felt rushed by staff. We were the only customers. They wanted to close even though it just opened.

Our waitress was really friendly but the establishment was understaffed and we only saw our waitress to order food, bring our food (eventually), and our check. It took 2 hours from the time we sat down until we paid our tab. The food was pretty good. We picked this place for the atmosphere and menu but for us, it was a one and done for us.

I made a reservation however our table was what seemed to be a squeeze in we were in the middle of the restaurant 2 small uneven tables pushed together making it difficult to eat and table wobbled so water sloshed everywhere from our glass till we drank half of it No leg room or place to put my feet that wasn’t on a foot of a table. Was hoping for a good experience as I’d done a lot of research on it’s history but was very disappointed

I can’t truly rate the food because we never received any. We made a reservation and were promptly seated. The hostess was friendly and helpful. We waited nearly 20 minutes as two waitresses came in and out of the room we were in serving the other tables. There were 4-5 other tables full in our section along with 2-3 empty tables. The two waitresses each made no less than 4 rounds each. Neither of them so much as glanced at our table. They didn’t acknowledge us or say “be right with you” or even look to see we were sitting there. (I’m certain because I watched them optimistically each time.) We had a show to catch, so after wasting 20 minutes we left and went next door to Sidebar. Will not return, which is so disappointing as I was looking forward to this first visit.
