   I feel really bad about writing this review, but our NYE pre fixe experience was terrible. The first two courses (hush puppies, fried green tomatoes, and little gem salad) were decent, but the entree and dessert were practically inedible. We both ordered medium rare filet mignons and got two steaks that were barely seared. It happens, no problem. The manager came over and took them back to cook a little more. I worked in restaurants for decades and this is super common and seriously no big deal. Both of our filets came back quite tough and mine had a significant amount of gristle. It was to the point that I thought they may have been bamboozled and it wasn’t filet at all. The steak was low quality and sadly was pretty bland. The desserts were a mixed bag—the icebox cake was fine but forgettable, but the chocolate cake was a stale brick. It tasted like it sat out all day before being topped with sauce and sent out. Truly awful. We’re not complainers, but we did expect they’d at least comp our mocktails. The service was all around a little weird—nothing bad, but I think the bare minimum when things don’t go as expected is to comp the table’s drinks. We ended up spending $300 on a meal we really didn’t enjoy. Perhaps it was just a bad night, but it was a really disappointment experience and we won’t return.

   My tenderloin entree was fantastic. You can keep the ultra deep fried hush puppies and fried green tomatoes. Place wasn’t really gentile as the name suggested. Southern Corporate is a more apt descriptor of the concept. I’ll look elsewhere for my next attempt at fine dining in Atlanta.

   Had a wonderful breakfast Sunday. Went early and it was not crowded. Plus street parking is free on Sundays. Everyone really enjoyed the food. Egg white omelette and the fried chicken with the skillet cake received rave reviews. The chicken apple sausage links were very good as well. Beautiful interior. Will definitely go back.

   Food was surprisingly better than expected. I will definitely be back. So glad I found this gem. I have to try more menu items. Was skeptical about the sweet potato cornbread that came with the greens and friend chicken dish, but it was all very delicious. My date got the shrimp and grits and we shared the Mac and red beans and rice. We couldn’t stop saying “now try this”. I also had the Chardonnay and loved it. Everything was great our first go around will be back to try the rest of the menu.
