I loved the ambience- a lively environment but not too loud; the server seemed a bit hurried, and we had unanswered questions. And if we were supposed to get a complimentary eggnog, it was never offered. The crabmeat ravigote was delicious - I could have eaten two: the fried flounder was good but it was swimming in insipid sauce that overwhelmed the delicate taste of flounder. My husband seemed to like his quail and the cioppini was enjoyed by my friend. My coconut cream pie was fair.

This is a nice, upscale restaurant. Due to our party size of 9, we had to fill out paperwork prior to going and agree to a minimum of $85 per person. The food was excellent and fresh, we were a little disappointed in the service - no exceptions or substitutions to the menu could be made, not even with an up charge. The waiter also mixed up our entrees, so we had to figure out who got what steak based on degrees of wellness, etc. They also would not let us split checks based on what each party got, we had to split it 3 ways evenly, then Venmo each other later. For an upscale restaurant, these issues should be addressed, especially since there are tons of options in NOLA. The restaurant is in a centrally located cozy alley. The decor and ambiance was nice and I enjoyed the bench seats. They also had a nice selection of wines, port wines and cocktails. Overall, our group will probably not go back, but it was fun to try someplace new.

There was a very long delay between entree service and dessert. Service was inattentive. Very unusual for Pelican Club.

Overall the food was good, but not fantastic. I had the Gulf fish paneed with crab on top. This meal was fantastic, the fish was cooked perfectly and the portion was just right… My husband had the Louisiana Cioppino which had a good portion size, but the spices were very Italian without any since of NOLA… there were only 3 clams and 4-5 PEI muscles… the linguine was not drained well, so the overall dish was a little wet and the spices were bland and unimaginative…. That part of the meal was disappointing…. Overall, just ok…. Not bad for the value… but would have paid a little more for more NOLA inspiration….

It has a lovely ambiance and a nice birthday welcome; great location for Canal Street hotels. The 3 and 4-course specials are fair, however, the upcharge for certain items may make the dinner pricey. Seafood Martini was good. CIOPPINO was very bland. Porkchop was not to my liking (that could just be my palette not appreciating sweet pork chops) Escargot- smallest snails ever; stuffing was tasty but there was more stuffing than actual escargot. Overall, I would not return.

I loved the choice of three or four courses. Food, drinks and service were great, and the Crispy Whole Fish was unbelievable! I recommend the Chocolate Breading Pudding for dessert. Outstanding. We will definitely go back the next time we are in New Orleans.
