The Cellar is the perfect setting for an intimate and romantic evening of fine dining. In 1969, artistic craftsmen of Disneyland fame created a romantic rendezvous in the cellar of the old California Hotel. Intimate and cozy, the dining room is elegant amid structured arches and cave-like walls that are deecorated with wine casks and silver lanterns. Culinary excellence abounds with only the finest and freshest foods prepared in a lighter version of classical French cuisine and finely crafted cocktails which set a benchmark for all of Southern California!

If you are unable to obtain a reservation for the evening, please visit our sister restaurant which is located across the courtyard. https://www.opentable.com/r/hidalgo-fullerton

Phenomenal restaurant for a special occasion. Their cocktails are handcrafted, seasonal and on the strongside. For the first round we opted for their Mai tai made with aged rum. It’s $45 but pretty amazing! The lobster bisque is truly the best soup I’ve ever had. For the main entree the wife and I shared their Chateaubrand (20 oz. Filet Mignon, cut and served table side) and it was also the best filet I’ve ever had. We finished off our meal with an old fashioned and a large vanilla soufflés with grand marnier. Our soufflé was slightly over cooked however I won’t hold it against them as I’ve had it before here and it was perfect (accidents happen). Last but not least our server Jocelyn provided excellent service and we appreciated her attentiveness and suggestions. If you have a special day coming up or just a fan of the finer things in life, I highly suggest visiting the cellar!

The meat and potatoes were amazing, but what’s with the “salad”. It was all purple cabbage!! Bitter and horrible. Did they think we wouldn’t notice that it contained no lettuce because it’s so dark?? 🤣. Our server was strange, like most of the clientele. I felt like we were in West Hollywood. Our 25th wedding anniversary and we had to share the crème brûlée. Kinda chintzy. But overall the food was good. Thank you. Parking is a nightmare.

The food and cocktails were very good. Very cool setting. We were seated and ordered cocktails. We were not offered menus until sitting 45 and then mains came out about 45 minutes later. The dessert menu was presented before the mains arrived. It was explained that the soufflé would need 30 minutes to bake. However we then felt rushed through dessert and then we were told they needed the table and we had to leave. We were there just over two hours and told we needed to leave at 8:35. Nobody was waiting and various open tables. Very disappointed after spending $500.

This restaurant is certainly out of the ordinary. The main dinning room is in the basement of a historical building. The Celler looks like a cave. The service was excellent. However, my date ordered the NY steak which he enjoyed except for the presentation. It is serviced pre-sliced. He did not care for that. Also, french fries were merely sliced potatoes. I did not care for my salmon. The dish was too sweet.

Great experience with a very professional and friendly food server! Food was excellent - Fillet and short ribs are highly recommended. The 10oz Fillet looked larger than 10oz which was a nice surprise! Food was all delivered to the table with serving domes keeping it all warm. They then had multiple food servers pull the domes simultaneously for a great presentation. Only area I was a bit less impressed with was the souffle dessert. Ordered the vanilla base with blueberry topping -- I think the chocolate would have been better! Our second time visiting this establishment and will definitely be going again for dinner!

Food was delicious, especially the bone marrow appetizer. Cocktails were also very good, but the service is exemplary.

Had a table in back - probably worst table in the restaurant. As a result, service was slow and ambience not as desirable. Food was fantastic. However based on location of seating and slow service, overall experience was not what I expected or value.
