   We had booked for a meal forgetting the Rugby was on, and were allocated a very nice table but outside of view of the TV. Before we even had a chance to ask, we were offered a table where we could watch. The atmosphere, service and food were all top notch!

   A lovely way to spend a Saturday lunchtime. Soup, and sandwiches were fantastic. Havent been to the Canny Man for about 8 years as I now live in London, but it was just as good as I remember. And as my Grandson is now older we will definitely ne back.

   I do not know how people rate this place. It’s the mostly filthiest restaurant I have sat in . Cobwebs hanging in abundance , dust on all their hanging trinkets everywhere . Then there’s the service , expect to be met with judgemental , obnoxious staff. So many places in the area where customers are appreciated and valued . This is not one . The place needs a complete renovation and a personality transplant .

   I asked for my steak rare and got it rare - can’t be guaranteed in all UK restaurants! Wife was happy with her seafood stew - lots of fish carefully boned and prawns in a tasty sauce. My cherries with ice cream bathed in cherry liqueur was exquisite. Attentive service.

   We're regulars at the Canny Man's and always enjoy the experience. The wine list could do with improving and some more affordable nice wines to be ,Ade available. Also, the reserved notices on the tables can be off-putting to visitors and could be put on the tables just before they're needed,

    We were put at a table needing to be set for 3 - I had booked in advance. We were placed in a draft wee room with terrible noise from open door down draughty stairs to kitchen - much shouting. The soup from a tiny menu of choice, was over salted and the bread was stale. Very disappointing. Won’t bother coming again.
