You’ll find Bavarian hospitality at its warmest in our acclaimed restaurant, where a wait staff clad in lederhosen and dirndls dispenses German specialties in an ambience of pure Gemütlichkeit at the base of Taos Ski Valley. Our sunny deck is equipped with warming lamps that let guests enjoy outdoor dining in all but the most inclement of weather.

The gourmet menu features refined German dishes that are hearty but never heavy, a perfect way to enjoy a midday respite or replenish your strength after an active day on the ski slopes or the hiking trails. Choose among such offerings as Sauerbraten, Wienerschnitzel, or Käsespätzle, accompanied by a selection from our fine wine list or one of our specially imported beers from the Spaten Brewery in Munich. For those who prefer a more American meal, we offer salads, sandwiches, and burgers for lunch.

Very special and unique dining experience in Ski Valley- very cozy dining room, good German food, extensive wine list, and real beer steins. Definitely worth the trip.

We would like to praise the Bavarian staff for excellent service as well as a delicious meal and enjoyable evening. When we arrived they did not have us on their list of reservations from OpenTable. While not necessary, I showed them one of the several confirmations and reminders I had received from OpenTable. From the beginning, the staff made it clear that there would be a table for us and they came through with that quickly despite being heavily booked for the evening. On top of the great service it was nice to have an authentic German dinner (I had the sauerbraten which was a delicious, generous serving of tender roast beef, savory gravy, friend onions, and spaetzle). We'll definitely return again, soon.

Anytime we are in Taos we make a point to go to the Bavarian. Its a bit of a trek to get to, especially in the winter but it is well worth the drive.

We have eaten here several times when we visit Taos Ski Valley. By day it is a casual place to have lunch while skiing or stop for a beer after skiing. Later in the evening the place is transformed to a slightly less casual dinner spot. Service, atmosphere and food always top notch! Make reservations early for holiday times!

The occasion was my husband's birthday and we were both excited to try the Bavarian! We had heard and read very good things about the place. The hostess did not seem to have our Open Table reservation but they had room anyway - she was not gracious... The ambiance was warm & nice, the wait staff very friendly although we got served after the larger party that was seated after us - oh well. The beer was great, the salad very nice, but we both got the Wiener schnitzel & it was dry and hard, tasted like it was from a box in the freezer and baked instead of hand prepared and fried. Even the shape looked mechanical. The portions were quite large but it was very unsatisfying especially because including the tip the meal was close to $150. We wouldn't go back. Sorry

Set on the ski slopes of Taos, this is a true Bavarian restaurant offering authentic regional drinks and dishes. Beers and wines are delicious, and we enjoyed some of the best spätzle and sauerbraten I've ever had. Would recommend this place wholeheartedly.

This is a first-time review. Overall, the ambiance based on the location and the physical structure are what make this the best choice for a special evening if you are in the Taos Ski Valley. The structure is truly old world - a rough-hewn log lodge complete with appropriate stuffed mountain animals and lighting by Gaston from Beauty and the Beast. The wine selection is quite robust given its remoteness, emphasizing Continental as well as US bottles. Our salads were generously portioned and nicely seasoned. Fish was perfectly cooked and osso buco also well seasoned. Excellent bread and water service, tables spaced well so that it felt very personal at dinner (but it is a madhouse at lunch!). Espresso excellent. We were too full for dessert but choices of apple strudel or flourless german chocolate cake looked fantastic. If we ever return to Taos, we will return here for sure.

The ambience was very nice, how could you go wrong with a log cabin at 10,000 ft. in the Rockies. The food was not that great, however. Pretty sure my Wiener Schnitzel was not hand breaded, but frozen from the factory. The vegetables under it were not very good, definitely overcooked. The asparagus was tough as shoe leather. My daughter ordered the fish of the day, and it was dry. We didn't order an appetizer, so they brought out bread instead. The bread was dry and not very tasty. I was very disappointed in the food given the price and hype. I would recommend a beer during the ski day, but not dinner unless they start caring about how their food taste.
