The Assembly House is a gorgeous Georgian gem perfectly located in the heart of Norwich. We set out to create the kind of establishment we'd love to find in one of the UK's most beautiful cities, one where old-fashioned hospitality is valued, food is delicious and where beautiful surroundings can be found hidden around every corner.
From breakfast where we serve our unique Beforenoon Tea - the breakfast edition of afternoon tea - to lunch which includes Assembly House classics and grazing boards, we're open seven days a week.
We're most famous for our themed afternoon teas which change regularly and are served from noon until last service at 3.30pm daily. As the Home of Afternoon Tea, we also serve some spectacular savoury versions of tea, including Beforenoon Tea, seafood option Afternoon Sea and our cheese-based option Afternoon Cheese. Please let us know your dietary adaptations for vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free or vegetarian teas at least 24 hours in advance.

    It's the multi-award winning service we're famous for: four gorgeous tiers served under glittering chandeliers between 12pm & 3.30pm! Afternoon Tea at The Assembly House is £32.00 for one (£18.95 for under-12s) plus a 10% discretionary service charge. ALL afternoon teas served are themed, other than for pre-booked private events. Your booking will be for one of several of our dining rooms, including the main restaurant. We look forward to you being our guests!     The Assembly House is the home of Beforenoon Tea, the breakfast edit of our award-winning afternoon tea served EVERY DAY in our restaurant between 8am to 11am. Beforenoon Tea makes any day a celebration! The menu includes a slightly smaller version of one of our hot freshly-cooked breakfasts and then the Beforenoon Tea Stand which is filled with treats including a ‘fried egg' mango and vanilla cheesecake and cereal-based cakes and tarts. Savouries include mini cream cheese and smoked salmon croissants, Cheddar Cheese, Colman's Mustard and chive scones with bacon jam, three-cheese toasties and Assembly House sausage rolls. Then choose tea or coffee chocolate mousse. All served with loose leaf English Breakfast tea or coffee!

    Available seven days a week from 8am to 11am, our breakfast menu includes favourites such as a Full English Fry-up packed full of local ingredients to Posh Cheese on Toast, our popular Beforenoon Tea (a breakfast edition of our afternoon tea served on three tiers) to our Double-Baked Cheddar and Parmesan Soufflés, Kedgeree to Eggs Benedict, Smoked Salmon and Scrambled Eggs on sourdough to Buttermilk Pancakes with berries and creme fraiche or Chocolate...There's something for everyone on the menu! We also have vegan and vegetarian fry-ups available and homemade breakfast beans on toast. Start your day the right way: under chandeliers!

    Loved the Peter Pan theme and the individual items, just the right size, although we still needed a 'doggy bag'. Ordered a hot chocolate (beautiful) and milkshake (perhaps rather too much cream?) as extra. Pots of tea were just right. Very good service.

    Visited with my mum for my Birthday today. We both had the Peter Pan afternoon tea. Catered very well for my gluten and lactose intolerances . Service was excellent.

    Breakfast here was the best way to start our day and the selection suited everyone, from my vegetarian full breakfast to the American pancakes with bacon and syrup and Full English the others had. The service was friendly and fast and we were very well looked after, as it has been every time we've visited. The Assembly House is one of my favourite places in Norwich and I'm happy to recommend them.

    We came here today as a special treat for part of my mums 60th Birthday. We had 5 adults and two children and a couple of allergies. They accommodated everybody, the food was clearly marked and was all pretty much the same, a fab job as some gluten or dairy free are often a bit naf. It was all delicious, especially the scones. A lot of work obviously goes into the food, we couldn’t fault it! The service was great too and the lovely waiter acted out the making a wish sprinkling fairy dust over my children milkshake, which they loved! It’s the first time we’ve been, we would definitely come again and would 100% recommend it. Looking forward to the next theme.

    We had the before noon tea this morning and it was absolutely amazing! So much food we had to bring some home with us. All food was to an amazing standard and quality. Staff were really friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning

    I booked this for my mums birthday and she received a card from them and a lit candle on a mini cake! It was a lovely experience and well worth it. The staff were friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was excellent and the room was beautifully decorated and the food was delicious. Overall we enjoyed our afternoon tea and would recommend it!!!
