Our server was Troy and he was excellent and very professional. Didn’t have to ask for a refill or wait for a longtime for the things we did ask for. Overall great experience.

Busperson took our silverware after appetizers but never brought more. Revolving door did not work and so icy air blasted in every time the swinging door was opened, blowing our napkins and food around. Experience was more of a three star grill than a five star dinner.

Service was great, our server was attentive and very nice. Drinks came in plastics cups - no problem but everyone else around us got glass. $16 drink and the cup was only half full and no ice. Dinner was mediocre. Cheesecake was good, chocolate fudge cake was dense and dry.

The spicy Tuna Salad was the star of the show! The Diablo Margarita was also very good! Our server was kind.

We are from the area and knew this was a touristy section of town so we were not expecting much and even so were disappointed. The servers were very attentive and the food came out fast which we appreciated since we were heading to a show at the Chicago Theater. We wanted to grab a quick bit close by but we were shocked by the prices compares to the quality of food. We should have gone to Portillos instead, would have saved some $$$$ and had a much better meal. I added shrimp to my mediocre Caesar salad, 3 small shrimps for $13?! SO MANY better places with better prices. Look around, this does not represent our city.

Thank you for sharing your feedback! We’re glad to hear that the service was attentive, and the food arrived quickly. We understand how important it is to get a good meal before heading to a show and we’re sorry to hear that the value didn’t meet your expectations. We appreciate your honesty about the prices and quality, your comments will help us improve! Hopefully, we can offer you a better experience next time. Thanks again for visiting.

We came here to have a light dinner before a concert at the Chicago theater. Had a reservation and were seated immediately. Service was excellent as we did not have to wait long for anything we ordered. Food was delicious and would have given a 5 star except that it’s pricey. 2 drinks, 2 appetizers and 1 shared fish dinner for over $110!

Thank you for your kind words! We’re so happy to hear you enjoyed the service and food!!! We totally understand the concern about pricing and appreciate your feedback. We hope you had a great time at the concert, and we’d love to welcome you back anytime.

The food and service were good enough to recco. However, the policy of adding a 20% tip to the bill for a 6 tip is bad form. The bill for six at first glance was a bit more than expected but within the guardrails of normal. However, something seemed amiss and I checked the bill. A 20% tip had already been added. It was not noted on the bill or mentioned by the server. If I was more conspiracy theory oriented, I would suggest that this is part of an organized plot to catch diners unaware and gin up a 35-40% tip because diners don’t notice. I’m keeping my mind on my money and my money on my mind. Don’t need to eat here when there are plenty of restaurants that play fair and don’t seem to be pulling the fast one on their patrons.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the food and service. However, we sincerely apologize for the confusion regarding the automatic 20% tip added to your bill. We understand how this can be frustrating, especially when it’s not clearly communicated. We strive to be transparent with our pricing and tipping policies, and we’ll certainly take your comments into consideration as we continue to refine our practices. Our goal is always to provide an enjoyable experience for our guests, and we regret that this issue detracted from your visit. We hope you’ll give us another chance in the future to demonstrate the quality and service we are known for. Thank you again for your feedback!

We enjoyed an evening in at “The Wit” called down for a reservation and was unable to get a reservation before 8pm, luckily I was able to sign into OpenTable and get an earlier time. Our server gave suggestions and we opted for the Cesar salad with added grilled chicken. We also ordered the rubbed wings but they were under cooked and we then selected the truffle fries as a replacement. The drinks were amazingly delicious “Prohibition “ & “Passion on State” .

Hi Sugar, we are happy to hear that you enjoyed your evening at the State and Lake Chicago Tavern. It's great to know that our OpenTable reservation system and our drinks were helpful in your search for a reservation. We're sorry to hear that your salad and wings were not up to par! We always aim for perfection, and it seems we missed the mark this time. We appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you soon!
