   Logan our server was pleasant and very knowledgeable of our order. It is so cool when you get a chance to go back to one of your favorite restaurants and the server know your order before you even tell it to them that is why (Southerleigh) is one of my top three restaurants.  Everyone there really treats you special and they just have a really great group of individuals that work at (Southerleigh)’s.

   We were a group of six. We had boiled shrimp, calamari and cornbread for apps. They were all great! One of the diners mentioned that the cornbread was the best he'd ever had! For dinner we had steaks and pork chops and lots of sides. The meats were very good. However, the sides were not as tasty. The carrots and mac and cheese were a bit dry and the Caesar salad had pickles in it (which was a bit off pudding).

   The service at the bar was lacking. We sat for a few minutes while the bartender was working on the CO2 line for the beverages. Absolutely no acknowledgement to our presence. Another couple arrived a few minutes after we did and were greeted by a different person and presented with menus while we waited. We finally asked for menus. It took several more minutes to get a drink order in after we asked another person if we could get two pints. We then tried to place our food order with the person closest to us and that's when the bartender stepped in front of the other person and said that HE would take our order. We ordered the duck rolls, which were tasty, but under cooked and very greasy. We then placed our food order of fried chicken and the lobster mac and cheese. The fried chicken was great. However, they have changed the mac and cheese to now be made with American cheese. The dish arrived barely warm, so it was a big plasticky mess of american cheese and pasta. It wouldn't even come off of the spoon when we attempted to serve ourselves a portion. We sent this back to have a hot version prepared. The new dish arrived quickly, and still not very hot. Overall this dish is completely inedible. The american cheese dominates the flavor, and the few flakes of lobster atop the dish can't compete with the awful flavor of the cheese. The original mac and cheese they made that came in a small crock was much better. I'm not even sure kids would eat this new version. Enjoy the chicken, but skip the mac and cheese. The chicken was freshly made, very flavorful and nice and crispy. The duck rolls would've been better if they were properly fried. These were undercooked, with no golden color or crispness. Service is usually stellar, but this day was definitely off. We felt invisible to the well staffed bar team. Dissappointed in this visit, but will return since this was clearly an off day for them,

    My family and I come here at least once a month. Southerleigh has THE BEST brunch in SA. Aside from just being at the Pearl and The Emma, the food is outstanding and service impeccable, always. I recommend the grits which seem so simple but these jalapeño cheese grits…huge portion to share, you will eat them all! Always good oyster selections and chicken and waffles! The also have the best cinnamon roll in Texas.
