Waited a very long time for our food. They sat us near the kitchen which was very loud. The food took over an hour to arrive our server apologized saying there was a large party upstairs we had 2 children with us. When the food did arrive it was cold and under cooked. The gave us free dessert but we were honestly over it by then. Probably won’t return the cost is not worth the experience.

We have eaten at Roy’s restaurants in many States and cities in the past. The food here was excellent which is why we chose to come to a Roy’s. They were also very accommodating about switching us to inside dining when it was too chilly for us to enjoy outside dining. There are two complaints we had about this location. The first is that there is no parking adjacent to the restaurant and their website didn’t mention this. Upon driving there we realized that we’d have to park a distance away in a lot that charged $40 to park and walk about one quarter of a mile to get to the restaurant. The service was poor. The food was excellent and our questions about the food were answered well.

As always, we had a nice dinner celebration for my son’s birthday and wedding anniversary at this restaurant. I tried the seafood sampler with lobster’s tail. Delicious! We had our favorite pineapple upside down for dessert.

Arrived at 6:45 for a 7 PM reservation. Checked-in, and was seated at roughly 7:15. Waited about 5 minutes for water and menus. Waited another 10 minutes for the server to take the first beverage, Poke appetizer and entrees order. Cocktails arrived after 15 minutes, but we proceeded to wait a total of 35 minutes for the Poke to arrive. Entrées were dropped another 30 minutes after that. Service seemed slow although the restaurant was only at 50% of full capacity. The Butterfish entree was entirely worth the wait. Exactly as I had enjoyed on a prior occasion in Oahu. The surf and turf was also well prepared… succulent lobster and tender beef filet. All and all, wonderful view and food, but just be prepared for a slower meal service. Dinner for two was $270 including tip for (1) appetizer, (3) cocktails, (2) entrees.

Service was wonderful, view was nice, food was OK. Fish was either overcooked or undercooked, so for the price, we didn't think it was worth it. We love Roy's, but we were really disappointed with this visit.

The food was amazingly delicious. The wok fried shrimp tempura was amazing and easily split for two. For mains we had roasted macadamia ñut ono and Parmesan bacon crusted Chilean sea bass. Both were excellently prepared with delicious sauce and vegetables.

Compared to the Roys in Hawaii/Maui/Oahu that apparently are chef owned, the SD Roys must be a franchise. The butterfish in Oahu was mind blowing; ordered the same here and it came out looking dry, tecture not great, slight off taste and just left a feeling of "meh". One of the chocolate souffles fell apart before delivery so they removed off the bill but also not impressed with that. Overall, don't think I'd eat here for this food again. Other guests with us had the sushi which was good so maybe the venue and sushi are the reason to dine here.
