Situated on the iconic Chicago River with stunning views of downtown, River Roast is a lively social house and gathering place. The menu features contemporary American tavern fare with dramatic presentations of whole roasted chicken, whole roasted fish and slow roasted beef; all carved table-side. The food is handcrafted, yet rustic, with many plates designed for sharing. The bar offers a large selection of local beer, craft cocktails, beer, and wine. With one of the best patios in Chicago, River Roast is a great place to enjoy dining outside on a hot summer afternoon or a crisp fall evening. River Roast Private Events offers six spaces, all with spectacular views, for parties from 10 to 1,000. Saturday and Sunday features our Brunch menu from 11:00AM-3PM. We are open Mon-Fri for lunch and daily for dinner.

The food and ambiance was great, however the restaurant over booked for Thanksgiving and even with a reservation there was a long wait. The host at the front was overwhelmed. The actual service once I was sat was great, the food selection was wonderful.

                                                                    Very friendly, accommodating, and respectful staff, from hostess, bartender, waiter, to turkey carver. Great location and ambiance. Thanksgiving buffet well presented and food well prepared and refreshed and replenished constantly. First Chicago Thanksgiving experience and super enjoyable. These out of towers will return. Good non-alcoholic beverage options too.

                                                                    We dined for Thanksgiving dinner. Our meal was buffet style with a dessert table and a starter, which was a charcuterie board. Everything was perfect and flavorful. The venue did not feel crowded and the atmosphere was very pleasant and low volume. The staff was friendly and attentive. We had a perfect Thanksgiving celebration.

                                                                    The service, food and place was amazing! It’s my first thanksgiving meal at a restaurant and I’m glad I picked this place! I would say if people don’t like turkey, they should have had a second option of chicken or something. Also a second pie would have been a great add on to the other desserts they had. Maybe the price can be a bit lower, but overall we had a fantastic experience! Thanks!

                                                                    Delicious food. You could tell it was all made from scratch. The pies- OH MY! Hands down best pumpkin pie ever. Only reason I didn’t rate all 5’s- had to ask a couple times to remove dirty plates & get refills but they did their best. Definitely go back!

                                                                    THANKSGIVING EXPERIENCE. First I have to say that the service was great and attentive. Food was okay, I can't complain, I read the menu in advance, nothing exceptional. Having said all that, the ambiance and holiday experience were terrible. They put us in a room that made me feel I was in a church basement. If you go to the restaurant for the location and view, you don't want to be seated in a kind of overflow room with no holiday resemblance. Weird curtain around us, no view. They choose to place the buffet by the windows instead of the tables for guests. We paid $180+ which included two non-alcoholic beverages + tax and tip. I do not recommend the Thanksgiving experience at River Roast. I made my reservations on Oct 4 and had great expectations towards this experience. Please do better.

                                                                    After watching Chicago's Thanksgiving Day parade, our family went for our Turkey feast on Thanksgiving Day at River Roast. The Thanksgiving buffet menu had all delicious choices from salads, veggies, stuffing, turkey and desserts. Service was impeccable (Witche was our waitress, and thank her for the great service). The restaurant and location and views of the Chicago River were spectacular. Our family left feeling we definitely made the right choice in choosing River Roast for our Thanksgiving meal. We are looking forward to going back to River Roast in the summer to try their regular menu and enjoy the outdoor terrace.
