Our restaurant & workshop share space, but more important are the views we share - that if we can make it ourselves, we will. That traditions guide but do not rule. Rising Sun Workshop does not support factory farming, what we buy in we buy local, from roasters, smokers, brewers, growers, winemakers & distillers who share our philosophies - our mates.

We’re here for your crazy & not so crazy dietaries, not all things are possible but with a little notice they might be.

Welcoming, casual & cool without trying hard. Always good food & cocktails, decent wine list & good service from lovely staff. Can be a bit noisy due to the architecture & fit out - high ceilings, hard surfaces, echoey space. Reasonable prices =$110 p/h for cocktail each, bottle of wine + a few glasses and 6 or 7 share plates between 3.

Another excellent lunch with friends in the spacious loft space. Nice variety of choices, and seven happy diners! The staff were helpful and attentive, as always.

The Monk ramen broth had good flavour, but was a bit too salty, so I poured water in it to adjust it to my palate. My friend who was having the Light ramen agreed that her’s was salty as well. The smell of motorbike fumes lingering in the air wasn’t the best while eating, but it was tolerable. I loved the decor, vibe and customer service, however.

Warm welcome and excellent service from the friendly team. Nice building and cool fit out. Unfortunately the adjoining motorcycle workshop, which is open to the restaurant, were working on a ‘bike and we walked into an overwhelming smell of gasoline or motor oil fumes. We were going to leave but the fumes eventually dissipated before we ordered. The cheeseburger was very greasy. Mushroom burger less so. Everyone else seemed to be there for the ramen, so maybe we should have run with that.

Rising Sun Workshop is a hidden local gem. All the urban industrial vibe you can handle with an ever consistent Japanese menu. Go for the ramen, stay for a cookie and come back often.

It was so wonderful to see that Rising Sun has reintroduced its longer a la carte menu to complement the ramen soups. The food was, as always, delicious and inventive.

The vibes of the rising sun workshop were immaculate and the food was great. I had the light ramen with adjustments to be gluten free and the other person I was dining with had the dark ramen. Both were great but the dark seemed to have a greater depth of flavour so I’ll be getting that next time! Drinks and food were great and reasonably priced. The staff were really friendly and accomodating. Would definitely recommend for a nice dinner or some casual drinks with friends.

Awesome place. Great value for money and fantastic concept. The group paid me out for booking a place outside the CBD but grudgingly admitted I'd 'done good' (I need better mates 😁) Such a great unique little place with lovely food and fantastic service. Well worth a visit
