Margaret is a neighbourhood restaurant at its core, but it’s also evolved into something more than that. It’s about comfort, generosity, and cosiness.
At Margaret, we work with the best quality produce that Australia has to offer. Chef Neil Perry AM has spent years developing relationships with some of the best suppliers in the country. We are predominantly a seafood restaurant and are very fortunate to receive our seafood direct from our fishermen, caught sustainably and dry filleted here onsite at Margaret, so we can ensure that all that love and care our wonderful fisherman have taken is seen all the way through. Margaret’s food is not overly complicated , just beautifully fresh and cooked to perfection. Along with a fabulous wine list and an atmosphere of a local casual eating place, it’s a great evening and certainly one I will be enjoying again before too long.

We had a celebration lunch at Margarets for my wife's birthday and we had a wonderful time. All the dishes being great, for me the tuna was a standout. Service was friendly, helpful and cheerful and overall, I'd highly recommend Margaret for a terrific dining experience.

Food great, service mostly ok (somewhat aloof), hospitality totally missing. The experience took an irrecoverable turn when a staff member told us that we had to vacate our table 2 minutes after our waiter had taken an order for deserts. I appreciate that venues need to turn over tables to increase revenue but it is not the diners fault if it cannot serve a meal in the time allocated. The whole experience was rushed and felt like a production line. Not what you'd expect from a high end restaurant, esp one owned by Neil Perry that supposedly prides itself on warm hospitality. I rarely write reviews (particularly negative ones) but I have eaten at Margaret and other Perry establishments 100s of times over the last 25 years. This was by far the worst experience. If you're paying $300pp for lunch the last thing you want is someone haranguing you saying "times up" before you've finished your meal.

Margaret is absolutely without a doubt one of my favourite restaurants in Sydney! The food, the service, the ambience are always first class! I'm always welcomed warmly and made to feel like I'm the most important person in the room. An absolute must on every one's bucket list! Food is delicious every single time.

We had high hopes for this restaurant but left with mixed feelings. Despite having a reservation and arriving on time, we waited 30 minutes before being seated, which was disappointing. The service left much to be desired, as the waitresses seemed confused and unprepared to answer questions. The food was enjoyable, though there’s room for improvement. The ceviche, for instance, had overly large and chewy fish slices, which detracted from the experience. Portions were also on the smaller side, leaving us wanting more. On a brighter note, the sommelier was fantastic—her wine recommendations were spot-on and truly enhanced the meal. The venue itself is beautiful, but overall, it felt overpriced for the experience we received.

Second time here. Beautiful, skilfully cooked food you want to eat. Plenty of choice. Paspaley pearl meat crudo was a revelation. We had to have the wood fired grilled prawns again. Good steak, great sides. Professionally, friendly and engaging service. Excellent wine list (you can’t find a Sottimano Barbaresco Pajore just anywhere). Lovely convivial ambience. Thank you Margaret, I’ll be back!
