Yokai is a charcoal grill and vinyl bar created by Chef Marc Zimmerman and inspired by travel throughout Japan. The vibe is loungy and upscale casual. The focus of our kitchen is sourcing pristine Japanese and Californian ingredients and preparing them simply. We're located steps from Salesforce tower at 545 Mission Street in the heart of San Francisco. We offer lunch and dinner and the our cocktail bar is open all day.

Tasty food but small portions. It was the first time we did a Restaurant Week menu and weren’t full by the end of the meal, and had to order more.

Very small portion for 2 for a $200 bill. The bass from the night club’s music right beside it is too loud for tables closer to the back exit door toward the restroom so it messes with the nice jazz music playing in the restaurant.

The food was nice but the service was pretty awful. The server was kind and pleasant but her skills left us wondering, what is happening? It was like no one really cared.

We went for restaurant week, I’m glad we were able to do small bites of many things but I don’t think the portions are worth the value for restaurant week menu. Overall, the food was delicious!

It was my partner’s birthday and they host even wished him a happy birthday but they didn’t do anything for him. The food was very good but some dishes were tiny. We ordered still water and had to pay for a bottle which is not really necessary in the Bay Area when tap/filtered water is perfectly fine. 20% tip included for a two person party. I wish this place was more weeknight-out budget friendly because I’d definitely go back again if it was more reasonable.

The place is very ambient and it is very romantic enough to take your lovely spouse on a nice dinner date. Love the jazz music and wood natural decor. The food is great. Especially any of the items that are char grilled. That wood fire gives that perfect flavor to their high quality meat. While food is great. The service just seemed to take a long time. It was odd to be waiting an extraordinary time between starters and main course. We are also just one out of two couples there. Other than that, food is still good. The place is still beautiful. Just wish service was a just a little faster.

it was an okay spot. i wouldn’t return. location was not the best, the DJ seemed to have a flat and uninterested affect. seemed like the audio was also a playlist instead of vinyl but not sure. we ordered mostly raw/cold dishes and it still quite a bit to come out despite not having any many other guests. there was probs only 3-4 tables who were already eating when we arrived. after this place, we left to eat at our fav sushi spot. expensive n not worth the experience but has lot of potential as a unique space in sf
