Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Yamas Austin offers a vibrant Mediterranean dining experience with "amazing authentic Greek food" and "superb wait staff." While the lively atmosphere and decor transport diners to Greece, the noise level can be high. The restaurant shines with standout dishes like the grilled octopus and variety of appetizers. Perfect for lively celebrations!

It took a while for our waiter to come to our table. He was nice and the food was very good, but I feel a few things were not right: 1) When you wait over 10 minutes for your waiter to stop by, it is pretty awkward and you wonder if there is an assigned waiter. Any sort of signal, like "I will be with you in a minute" would be appreciated. 2) We asked for our meals to be Gluten Free by substituting the Lemon Potatoes for the fries. When my meal arrived it had fries. I accepted it since I don't have to have gluten free food, but I could not share it with my daughter. They indicated that they would bring the Lemon Potatoes, but they never came. 3) We were unable to order a second drink prior to getting the meal. 4) The waiter didn't come by, so I didn't have an opportunity to ask for the Lemon Potatoes once looked like they forgot.

I’ve been to this restaurant before and it was enjoyable. Today, the music was wonderful, the service was intermittent, the patrons and staff encroached on our table and pretty sure the filet was some other type of beef as it was extremely chewy. Not sure I’ll return which I hate to say about a locally owned place and my love of Greek food.

Yamas is the most aesthetically pleasing place that I have ever been to have a meal. The decor transported me back to my Mykonos trip years ago. The plates are a bit pricey, but were tasty nonetheless. My friend and I shared a bottle of Prosecco, the avocado toast with prosciutto and the spanakopita. Every bite was so flavorful, and the avocado toast was a total standout: the toasted chickpeas and pickled beets were great additions. For my friend’s birthday, the DJ played a happy birthday song, as they brought out a dessert called ekmek kataifi; it was light and airy, a perfect end to the meal.

Food is great. Sad to see there are no Zucchini chips on the brunch menu. Service was slow and we had to ask for refills on our water.

We absolutely loved our experience, the food was authentic Greek and the ambience was spectacular. The only downside was they were under staffed and was a bit slow. The server himself - Case - was fabulous but he was stretched too thin and wasn’t able to refill our water or get us our dinners or drinks in a timely fashion. That said we enjoyed the Magic show while we waited.

I recently dined at Yama's for the first time, celebrating a birthday with a group of 11. We were all very excited to enjoy what we hoped would be a delightful experience of Greek cuisine. Unfortunately, our visit had its challenges. While the food was absolutely amazing—truly a highlight of the evening—the service left much to be desired. Our server seemed preoccupied, often walking by without checking on us. We found ourselves needing to shout to get his attention, and it took a considerable amount of time for our drink orders to be fulfilled. We felt neglected, as we weren't approached about refills for water or drinks throughout the evening. The biggest surprise came when the bill arrived. Each person was charged $70, which we were not informed about during the reservation process. Our total exceeded $1000, which was quite a shock, especially for a birthday celebration. I chose to pay the bill without making a fuss to preserve the festive spirit of the occasion, but I believe clearer communication about pricing would have been appreciated. Overall, while the food was outstanding, the service and lack of transparency regarding the billing certainly detracted from our experience. I hope they can improve in these areas for future guests.

Great food! Some of the best Greek I have had down here in Austin. VERY fresh.
