Made a reservation for my birthday dinner and it was a stellar experience. We all ordered the omakase and had the lychee high ball. Everything was flavorful and had amazing textures. Despite being busy, the waitresses were an attentive team. They cleared plates when finished, explained what each plate was, and offered watered or alcohol as we needed. I would definitely come back.

Happy hour special of $35 OMAKASE is a steal! Pairs perfectly with their draft Suntory. It's an izakaya in the middle of chinatown with welcoming service and mouth-watering aromas that'll have you walking out smelling like the grill - in a good way lol. When skewers hit the fire, I immediately began craving the cheesy plates I'd wipe out in 日本, but YH unfortunately doesn't offer any. Nonetheless, 全部で とてもうまい - everything was delish! Sitting at the bar is the way to go, tho I recommend avoiding seats in front of the smokescreen.

Tried new offering of omakase 13 courses which was a nice blend of different menu plates. I would suggest, however, adding a seafoodto the courses. We've eaten at Hachibei several times and selected our plates so this was a good change. But we previously had some seafood which we missed having this time. Rice stick was also different. Previously we've had squares, not a long meatball grilled. I prefer the squares. Overall, the food was fabulous, delicious, as usual, service impeccable as well.

The entire experience was very authentic to Japan. The yakitori sticks are small bite size and the drinks are also smaller in size. the quality and preparation really showed how much effort and consideration was put into it and the price reflects that. Their menu is not that large because everything they offer was chosen with care and delicious. If you do order their Omakase's, they bring each course out on the same dish, so each person can grab their stick and eat it on the plate in front of them. It did look like they used Japanese pottery dishes. Definitely come at happy hour to get more friendly prices.

We have been going to this restaurant since it opened. Robert the owner was an amazing host and the restaurant felt upscale. When I went last night, as soon as I sat down I felt a difference. First they never took our drink order and we felt rushed to order quickly to get their special. They have reduced the menu and taken away the best dishes( I expect they took more expensive ingredients ). They really are pushing the set course. The previous owner Robert would have never given his customers dirty paper menus. I know things change and not always for the good. This was amazing experience with amazing food. Now it is just another place for tourists. The staff was still really friendly, but I will not return.

Decided on the omakase which is 13 courses (10 courses on happy hour). It’s a perfect combination set if you are looking to try multiple skewers. Each skewer was so full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The service was exceptional as they made sure to explain each dish when brought to the table and how to best enjoy it. We also added on the scallop skewer and grilled Caesar salad on top of the set meal. Can’t go wrong with Suntory beer on draft and they also have a nice sake selection available. Don’t be fooled with only 13 courses, you will leave the restaurant stuffed! We had to get take home containers for our last two courses. Sesame pudding was the perfect way to end our meal. Highly recommend Yakitori Hachibei. Please note when making a reservation, there is a $20 no show/cancellation fee pp.

Everything was amazing! We loved that they have a 13-course omakase option because we could try a little bit of everything and it was so filling! The servers were also very attentive and brought each course out at the perfect times. This is definitely a restaurant we’ll be coming back to again!
