One of Dublin’s best known and most inviting restaurants, The Angler’s Rest offers an extensive menu and top-class cuisine in the welcoming ambience of its French threadbare-style and elegance. Originally built as a hotel in 1865 and used by honeymooning Dubliners, it has always been called The Anglers Rest and is still serving great seafood to this day.

Just a 10-15-minute drive from Dublin City Centre, this landmark establishment in the seclusion of the Strawberry Beds – next door to the Phoenix Park – has a history that stretches back to Cromwellian times and the famous patriot Michael Collins. It has long been considered as his the favourite watering hole and for anglers fishing along the banks of the adjacent River Liffey.

Today, the tradition of great food and drink continues with a strong culinary reputation, including the freshest seafood landed by Wrights of Howth, and a wide selection of national and international brands of beers, wines and spirits.

Food nearly always good but warm veg and potatoes this time, special occasion so disappointed. Very rude young blonde waitress who left us sitting there with our desserts going cold while she had a chat with the barista. Not impressed they need to do better or at least train the staff to do their job !!

Wright’s Anglers Rest will always have a special place in my heart as we got married there so I couldn’t think of a better place to have a special lunch for my 40th birthday with my husband and son and the staff where as amazing as ever they sang happy birthday to me which was lovely of them to do can’t wait to go back.

Outstanding food as always! We have been here a few times now and every time is as good as before. I would highly recommend to a friend. Prices are quite high however the quality of food makes up for this. The atmosphere is lovely and the place itself is quite warm and cosy. The staff are friendly however we asked for drinks twice and they ad forgot to come back to us. Overall lovely experience and we will definitely be back.

The food here has gone downhill in the 2 years, I wouldn't be in a hurry to come back for this reason only the staff a nice

Beautiful place to eat and relax. Went in the afternoon so wasn't busy. Celebrating a big birthday. Staff and service excellent. Food delicious.

The service and food was excellent, the back ground Irish music played (not too loud) by two musicians was very good, the owner / managers little word with each table was a nice touch, a lovely lunch indeed, we will be returning
