A taste of South Africa.

Vivat Bacchus is a South African restaurant and wine bar, offering sustainable, seasonal menus along with an impeccable South African wine list. Whether you’re dining with us, hosting a party or wedding in our private spaces, taking a tour of our wine cellars or cheese rooms or joining our regular wine events, we’re all about simplicity and consistency – good food and great wine, time after time. We feature rare breed meats, grilled to perfection, making us one of the best restaurants in Farringdon.

The decor, slightly industrial with open ceilings, exposed pipes and ducts creates the feeling of being in a working winery and an unpretentious, no nonsense atmosphere. Fans whirring in cheese rooms and wine cellars stocked to the brim leaves one with no doubt where the focus of the business lies.

The food and service was very good. I didn’t like that all extras were an additional cost, for example a small plate of chips were an additional £5+ We were trying to have a catch up with someone we have not seen for a while but found it very noisy and hard to follow the conversation. This was probably bad timing as we were seated next to a largish table downstairs. Overall, food and service great but seemed a little pricy.

Went there for a small word-do. Service was, as always, impeccable. And the desserts weren’t too shabby either! Definitely going there again.

Had a fabulous time here with the family on a Friday evening. The restaurant had a very great Friday wind down buzz. The cheese room was so much fun! My eldest can now say he has tried both crocodile and ostrich which he is happy about! Decent affordable wine list with some interesting options.

Great food & wine with friendly and knowledgeable service. Ostrich and smoke pate were highlights. Only complaint was that sides like chips were a bit measly in size given the price.

Malva pudding not very South African- needs more syrup. Would like to see more South African sides eg pap with the chakalaka

The staff were lovely and very happy to accommodate a food aversion rather than an allergy, which was really kind. All of our dishes were excellent and the two steaks were cooked to perfection. The wine list was very good.
