From the OpenTable editors: Housed in an architecturally stunning structure in Culver City, Vespertine is more than a restaurant—it’s an all-out sensory experience. The choreographed 16-course meal, which takes diners through different levels of the building, weaves in music, sculpture, and scent. Chef Jordan Kahn’s highly conceptual two-MICHELIN-Starred menu pays tribute to the four regions of California through a variety of wild-foraged and regenerative ingredients.

Outstanding, thoughtful culinary experience with incredible intent & execution! The food was as beautiful as it was delicious and complimented by artistic service pieces. Thoroughly enjoyed the story behind every dish. And excellent beverage pairings! The music, beverage service & flatware marking were the only areas I could critique as they did not seem to always prioritize the guests’ experience. Truly one of the best meals I’ve had this year, thank you!!!

One of the best dining experiences of my life. I had the honor of dining at Vespertine before the pandemic and have been looking forward to it reopening ever since. There are some experiences that you just don’t forget and are hoping to recreate, and yesterday did not disappoint. The service was excellent from the moment you leave your car to the second you leave the restaurant. It felt like the staff really knew us and created the atmosphere and experience around our party. The little attention to detail was much appreciated. The experience really started right after I made the reservation for my husband’s birthday, when I got an email from them asking for the special occasion and who it was for. That translated to a handwritten and signed birthday card for him the second we were seated. It’s also so special to get the background of all the dishes and drink pairings, taking the diner on a sensory journey through the chef’s mind and why he created the menu he did. Also appreciated that they gave us a menu of all the items to take home, as we really loved some of the drinks paired with the dishes. Every dish was better than the one before. Highly recommend adding the caviar and truffle dishes, and replace at least one of the lamb dishes to wagyu. Last time we were there we got the wine pairing for every dish but that proved to be too much for me and I had a lot of wine left un-drank (very sad); so this time we got the dynamic pairing which also incorporated non-alcoholic drinks to some of the dishes and it was the perfect mix. Overall, 10/10 experience. Looking forward to coming back with every new menu experience

This was a fantastic meal with beautiful theming and thoughtful touches. Everything felt efficient and smooth, the timing and dishes were flawless. Appreciated that the paired beverages came with a cool story about the area or how it tied to the dish. Loved that different staff rotated through as they shared about the course or even the dish that the food was being served in. The menu rotates it seems, but it was fun to be surprised with each reveal. The dinner began with a quick tour of the third floor kitchen before moving down one level and being seated for the savory portion of the meal. Ended downstairs on the ground floor for the desserts (yes, plural!) and final drink pairings. Start to finish was a little over two hours and it never felt rushed or that we were left waiting long between courses. Outside was a pretty garden area with throw blankets.

It was very much an interesting experiential dining. It was different and food quality and craftsmanship was great, but it wasn’t overall superb in tasting and service. It was a bit underwhelming from my expectations. The music was a tad bit loud. If you’re thinking of getting the non-alcoholic flight, don’t. It’s expensive and the drinks don’t taste very good. I get it’s made in-house, but I mean…how do you mess up barley tea by mixing it with other ingredients, making it taste like dirt?! Only one drink was good form the flight and it was kiwi-based juice. Tasted like fresh pressed juice.

Vespertine did not disappoint!!! Chef Jordan Kahn is a genius! The curated tasting menu paired with finest wines + an option for a mocktail pairing had definitely elevated our dine in experience. The food was creative, succulent, and bursting with flavor. Service was excellent! Staff was very attentive. The building itself is such a fine architecture. Vespertine = The BEST!

I can’t stop thinking about this meal—even five days later! It wasn’t just food; it was a masterpiece. Each dish felt like a journey for both the palate and the mind. If you’re open to a truly immersive dining experience and willing to splurge, this is one indulgence that’s absolutely worth every penny. The staff was beyond incredible—gracious, attentive, and genuinely kind. They went above and beyond to make the evening unforgettable, even packing up my favorite emulsion to savor at home (and trust me, it was just as delicious the next day!). From start to finish, everything about this place exudes artistry and warmth. If you’re ready for an unforgettable culinary adventure, this is the spot. Yummm…
