Urfa is a city in Southeastern Turkey, deeply rooted in history, so its unique cuisine is an amalgamation of the cuisines of the many civilizations that have ruled in Urfa. Dishes carry names in Kurdish, Arabic, Armenian, Syrian, and Turkish, and are often prepared in a spicy manner. It is widely believed that Urfa is the birthplace of many dishes, including Raw Kibbé (Çiğ Köfte), which according to the legend, was crafted by the Prophet Abraham from ingredients he had at hand.

Many vegetables are used in the Urfa cuisine, such as the "Ecır," the "Kenger," and the "İsot", the legendary local red capsicum that is a smaller and darker.
Urfa is a big user of clarified butter, made exclusively from sheep's milk.
At Urfa bistro we will try our best to use local products to create dishes as same as prepared in Urfa.

                                                                    Valentines Day dinner on the enclosed back patio. The service was exceptional, especially for a very busy night. The ambiance was fine given that I reserved fairly late and got a table on the back patio instead of the main dining room. The patio is very nice in cold weather, warm enough and protected from the wind. It is also pretty quiet. The food was great as always. We were not rushed. Altogether a great experience on a night that can be a nightmare for restaurant owners and workers.

                                                                    I love Urfa. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the food is always fresh and delicious. I like to take my 80-year-old parents and the staff are always so attentive & helpful to them. It’s a hidden gem in downtown Los Altos.

                                                                    There are many great choices on the menu, though I have a friend who craves the LAMB SAUTÉE. He loves it every time. It had been 4 weeks since our last visit to Urfa; and last night he said it tasted even better than he remembered!

The staff/owner makes you feel like you're a regular no matter how often/infrequently you may come. The food is excellent (lamb saute is my fav) and the staff is excellent in ensuring your needs are taken care of.

                                                                    This was our first visit to Urfa Bistro, and it won't be the last. Our entire meal was fabulous. The Dolma and Spanikopita were delicious appetizers, the Red Lentil soup was amazing, the Lamb Shank and Mousaka were outstanding. Service was attentive and our server had excellent recommendations. We will be back soon!

                                                                    Very pleasant surprise in Los Altos. Decided to grab a meal out last minute and was drawn by the good reviews for Urfa (which is a type of spice for those who are not aware, like I wasn't). Don't let the modest appearance fool you, the food here very very good, worth a return trip. Greek Salad, Urfa Kebabs and the daily special of Petrale Sole all very well executed and extremely tasty. Biggest surprise of all may have been the Kunefe, a unique, excellent but not too sweet dessert. Service attentive and patient. All in all, a neighborhood gem for Los Altos. Will go back.
