Was a nice restaurant. It wasn’t that busy when we were there however our main entree took a little over an hour to come but when it came it was hot and delish. Luckily we were able to sit on the patio and smoke hookah while we waited. Our server wasn’t that great. She was nice but seemed to forget about us several times during the evening. Overall a nice place, I would give another try.

Food was very good. Unpleasant surprises came with the bill which stated checks over $100 got 18% gratuity automatically added. Looking carefully once we were home, the amount was 20%, not 18%. Then a 3% charge added for using a credit card. Then, tax was added to all of this. Had I added my own gratuity after the bill tallied, I would not have had to pay tax on gratuity or credit card charge. None of these charges were explained either in Upper Kirby Bistro's website, Open Table when we made the reservation, or when we were seated or order taken. We will not return.

Service: The service could have been better given there were only 3 or 4 tables at the time of our reservation (12 pm). Food: I got the salmon Ceasar Salad. The salmon was great, but the salad was overdressed (drowning in dressing), and there was hardly any parmasean cheese. Unfortunately, the salad was a bit unbalanced and less palatable. One friend got steak and eggs, another got the Taste of Soul, and they were content with their meals. Also, we happened to be there at the start of gospel brunch. The singer/band was really good.

Prepare to be frisked or have your purse searched. Valet parking is $10. Food was good but restaurant was very loud! I doubt we’ll return.

This was my second time eating here and it was horrible. First upon entering it was empty only one waitress (and she was the host and the waitress.) we sat down instantly I see someone at another table returning their food I ignore that because its a restaurant you cant please everyone right? we get our appetizer which were the Asian shrimp DELICIOUS! but for 26 dollars we should get at least 6 not 4 but they are a great size. I ordered chicken fried chicken; my husband ordered steak. The chicken was raw as it was a big chunk of the breast not fried all the way the mashed potatoes where running and the collard greens were nothing but the stalks no greens. The steak however was cooked to perfection according to my husband but his sides were also awful. I ordered a strawberry lemon drop watery. The strawberry lemonade watery; I mean I cant make this up. the waiter got a slight attitude when I pointed out that she added on gratuity for 100 or more when my food was only 96 dollars. True enough I could've let that ride but for the experience she should have let me decide if I wanted to pay that. (we were gonna tip her good because she was literally the only waitress ) and had at least 3 tables with 2 or more people. Her nonchalant attitude and the fact that I requested the manager and she never showed up helped me realize that it was a failing business already there was no reason to complain we paid our bill and will never return. Do Not RECOMMEND !!

Our waitress was very welcoming and attentive. The food and drinks were great. Lovely atmosphere. One of the best brunches we’ve ever had. We will definitely return.
