Nara prefecture is said to be one of the birthplaces of Japanese culture. There are many historical shrines that are listed on World Heritage Site, and it’s beautiful sceneries are also recited in Manyoshu - the oldest existing collection of Japanese poetries. Established in 1891, Kikusuiro is located right in front of the Torii gateway of Kasuga Shrine. For more than a century, it has welcomed many V.I.P guests from not only Japan but all over the world.Eel is a popular traditional Japanese food. There is a habit of eating eel after visiting shrines in many places, such as Narita-mountain Shinsho temple, Atsuta shrine and Mishima temple. It has also been a popular dish of Kaiseki-ryori (full course Japanese cuisine) in Kikusuiro. The secret eel sauce still keeps the same taste since Kikusuiro first opened its door. We hope this new eel restaurant will establish a new habit for tourists to eat eel after visiting Kasuga shrine, and create a new food culture in Nara.

    うな菊さんを利用させてもらいました。婚約者とその両親と一緒でしたが入口に従業員さんが立っておられたので先に３名を案内していただきました。建物の佇まいや屋内の雰囲気も高貴でメインの鰻も柔らかくて美味しく、会話を楽しみながらの有意義な時間を過ごすことが出来たことを感謝しております。ただ一点だけ要望です。自家用車利用を希望されているお客様がいらっしゃる場合、１か月前位から予約した方には優先的に駐車場を空けていただけるかコインパーキングのサービス券などの提携などがあれば本当に究極満点のサービスだと思いました。

    新年に親を連れていきました。ご馳走したかったので、特別感がありつつ、出せる値段のランチメニューがあるのが嬉しかった！親は今までで一番美味しいうな重と絶賛でした。一日中美味しかったなー！と口に出していてとても嬉しかったです！接客も丁寧で良い時間を過ごせました。ありがとうございます☺︎

    大阪出張の余暇で、奈良国立博物館に寄った際に一人で立寄ったのを機にたいへん気に入り、大阪出張の折には必ず足を運びたいお店となりました。 行くのは決まって一人で昼時ですが、白焼き、蒲焼きを始めとして肝煮、うまき等を肴にビールと日本酒をいただくのが定番です。白焼き、蒲焼きは臭みもなく、うなぎ本来の味が充分堪能でき、出し巻(うまき)も出汁と卵のうまさが際立つ逸品、と考えここでは外せない料理です。 菊水楼の離れに2016年に開業したとの事で、趣のある佇まいと荒池を見下ろす景色が料理の美味さと相まってとても癒されます。 東京でもなかなか出会えない江戸前うなぎを堪能できるＣＰも優れたお店、と私なりに評価してます。

    Good environment and foods. And good that the online reservation through OpenTable is easy and FOC, which is a lot better compared to other restaurant like Kikunoi.

    歴史ある建物の中で、大きくふっくらと焼きあがったうなぎをいただけます‼️池を挟んだ向かいは奈良ホテルで、景色とお料理を堪能できます。タレや山椒は食べ放題です。ご飯がやや少なめですが、ゆっくり楽しめます。

    由緒正しい感じの佇まいの日本家屋で「鰻」を頂けます。 お重（丼）、一品料理、コースと選ぶことが出来るので、昼食から夕食まで様々なシチュエーションで使えるお店だと思います。 中でも、蒲焼と白焼きの両方がのったお重は初めて頂きました。 日本家屋ですが、絨毯が敷いてあり靴のまま上がれます。 通されたお部屋は広めのダイニングに4人掛けのテーブルが7個置いてありました。 オープンな空間なので周りの音は丸聞こえですね。 昨今は海外のお客さんも多そうでした。

    各地に行ったらその地の鰻屋さんを訪れるが 白き暖簾をくぐると古の良き風合い ウナギも美味しかった 中々来る機会が少ないがまた来たい《しら菊》です 知人にも勧めときます‼️

    Really good Unagi (eel) menus. The place is a little hidden but not very hard to find. Both of the sets we got for dinner were great and worth the visit.

    奈良燈花会の夜のイベント前に利用しました。奈良ホテルが窓から見えて、調度品も日本の伝統も残しつつつ、机とテーブルなので、正座の苦手になった母にも体に優しく、ゆったりとお食事できました。難を言えば、女性や熟年の母にはお重が大菊だけの設定は残念。小菊だと丼の位置ずけになってしまうので、お重で小菊があったらパーフェクトです。
