Trummer's is a place to go in Clifton, Virginia for a relaxing lunch/ dinner. Justin, our server was attentive and pleasant. He quickly bought water, drinks to our table as soon as we sat down. The menu is good, and there are a variety of choices. I ordered the pork schnitzel which was a little dry. It would have been helpful if there had been a vegetable to go along with the schnitzel. Overall it was a pleasant experience and I will definitely be back.

No manager was present during the 3 hour lunch service. The one waiter attending the dining room was often gone 15 minutes or more, even when 5 tables were seated. He was pleasant when he was there but seemed drawn to doing something else than waiting tables or remembering basic requests like more water

The staff at Trummers went above and beyond to give my mom a great birthday brunch. The little extras made it very special and she felt spoiled (as she should)!

Unfortunately our dinner experience was mediocre. Our table was right next to the kitchen entrance not the nicest ambiance. We ordered the pumpernickel bread as one of our starters it was warm but extremely dry. My husband had the 3 course Austrian menu. The theme of his dinner was potatoes. His appetizer was a Mache salad with potatoes 80% and salad 20%. The entree was a goulash that had about 4 pieces of meat and 20 potatoes… it seems that the kitchen had an abundance of potatoes. My vegetarian pasta did was not very flavorful. Another member of our party had Prime Rib which was fine it came with a rather large bowl of…. You guessed it potatoes. My son had the lamb shank which was the only entree that actually looked and tasted like something We would expect from Trummers. Overall somewhat disappointing. For spending $300+ it was definitely not to memorable. Or at least not in a good way.

I always wanted to visit this restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. The hostess was warm and welcoming. The dining room was open, spacious and had a great ambiance. Our server was a delight and helped us decide our food choices. He always gave us very good information about the restaurant and its history. The food was amazing and everything was cooked perfectly. I would recommend others to try this great restaurant.

I’ve been to Trummer’s a few times. The service always leaves a little something to be desired. Today it was awful. We showed up early for our reservation, yet had to wait in a half-empty restaurant for 10 additional minutes before being seated. Our sever was slow. And inattentive. No water or coffee refills u less we flagged her down to ask. Coffee came with cream and sugar, but we had to ask for a spoon to stir it (no silverware was provided). Every table had placemats but ours, and it became wet and dirty quickly. We waited 30 mins for oysters and cornbread. When our entrees hadn’t arrived after an hour, we had to ask. Tables or larger parties that arrived after us had the entrees while we waited. We were told “they’re almost done.” Then miraculously 5 minutes later, they were at our table. My grits were watery and the shrimp were undercooked - even the food runner said so. I sent I back. My husband ordered the butcher salad. The meat was cold (we asked the server who verified it was supposed to be warm). They comped those two entrees. But it was my husband’s birthday brunch, and the terrible service just ruined the celebration.

If you're looking for an exceptional dining experience, Trummer's on Main in Clifton is the place to be! During Austrian Wine Month in March, they offer a fantastic selection of Austrian wines at 20% off, allowing you to explore some hidden gems. I highly recommend trying their signature Titanic drink—it's an absolute must! We also enjoyed a perfectly crafted Old Fashioned, made with Makers Mark, which was a delightful treat for the taste buds. For dinner, we went with the Wienerschnitzel and Rack of Lamb, and both were prepared to perfection. Every bite was a testament to their culinary expertise. The service was impeccable from start to finish, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure we had an unforgettable experience. You truly couldn’t ask for anything more. This was a first time for us and we will be back! Highly recommend this gem!

The four of us went to celebrate the retirement from federal service of a spouse. I'd been once before but before the restaurant was greatly expanded. I do want to return to sample the short ribs which my best friend enjoyed immensely. The greeters at the front were great and enthusiastic. Once seated though, we had a new waitress who admitted as such and she did not know the menu very well. That's ok and we understood. Once looking at the wines, I was dismayed at the prices. Virginia wines I know well were 4x prices I usually buy at and the cheapest Pino Grigio was $51 per bottle. I settled for a CA Chardonnay that was ok, but with a terrible pour. Served a giant glass, it barely covered the bottom. My buddy had a good German beer and the wives had cocktails that they seemed to like ok. The Brie and Crab Dip appetizers were very good. No complaints there. The menu was interesting and diverse, although an item or to on the combined dinner menu would have been better if we could order them al a carte. Two of us ordered the schnitzel, probably the cheapest thing on the menu, and at least I regretted it. The dill german potato salad was not quite up to dill standards... a little bland and the schnitzel was flakey and perhaps little overdone. I managed while my buddy loved the short ribs which I really wanted! My mistake. My wife loved her pumpkin butternut squash and it was gone in a flash. The wives shared a chocolate dessert and shared a bite with us that was delicious. The bill was $331 and we had a good time and most of the food was very good, with vastly overpriced wine. Still, I would go back again, drink the German beer, have the short ribs and still refuse to pay $6 or $9 for bread. Its a wonderful town, very scenic, but the prices and atmosphere were geared more to tourists than regular loyal local customers.
