   We had dinner with a relative from out of town who had previously dined at Eataly. We learned that she had never eaten at Trattoria Milano but rather the other food station areas in the Marché. In fairness, this was not what we were expecting. The ambiance was modern casual and appealing. Higher noise levels. We tried the Blondo bier recommended by the server to approximate Peroni which was lacking on the menu. They have an independent brew house in the basement. Fail. Too hoppy. The trout salad was nice although the trout flavour was that of mostly smoke with little else coming through. The risotto portion looked like a small plate of grey porridge. Presentation and portion size left something to be desired. Flavour was good. The traditional “bread” gnocchi was mistaken by the server delivering it for another dish so we were confused when it arrived. 3 soft “bread balls” with pieces of speck and other elements in a broth poured over them when set down at the table. Too far away from any semblance of gnocchi for the average diner. Fail for us.. The fish was ok but a little dry. An interesting experiment on modern Italian cuisine that ultimately missed the mark with this dining party. We would have rather gone to Sassafraz or Terroni with similar price points and larger portions and better food. We will go back to Eataly but stick to the wonderful marché style food areas outside of Trattoria Milano.

   The dishes were small in size and expensive. I had ravioli with pancetta. It was good and came to my table hot. Service was good until it became clear I was not going to order more food or dessert.

   Huge thank you to our Waiter and the Chef! I am on a very restricted diet and they both went above and beyond to accommodate me and to be able to find something I can have and enjoy. And it was delicious! Thank you again for being so kind and patient with my requests!

   Nice place. Unfortunately, they were out of a few things from their menu including bread! Disappointing.

   Waited 40 minutes between my starter and my main course. The couple sitting the table next to me waited more than 50 minutes between their starters and main courses. This is not acceptable. Food is good. But a well run restaurant doesn’t make you wait that long. And no compensation was offered to me for the wait. This kind of thing happened to me once in the past and they offered the dessert as a compensation.

   The food was great, however there was a delay. They sent us the hot beverages after we finished our dessert and the salad we ordered was never delivered to the table . But I would definitely go back for the good food

   Dinner was fine. Not as special as I'd hoped. The wagyu beef ($64 on special) was tasty but not as tender as I'd had at other restaurants. The squash was also okay but lacking pizzazz -- just cubes of butternut squash with cheese and breadcrumbs. Another disappointment were the Milanese 'meat balls' (three for the appetizer). The standouts were the tiramisu and the aperol spritz -- both delicious! And the servers were excellent. For the price, the meals should be improved in taste, texture (meat balls) and seasoning. I would go to another restaurant at Eataly where the dishes are tastier and better value for money.

   I have been going to Trattoria Milano ever since it opened. I liked their food, the wine, service and the ambiance of the whole restaurant. More often, being an older lady, I likd the washroom connected to the restaurant. All in all, I loved this restaurant and would go back there time and time again ! Marie
