Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Trattoria Il Panino in Boston's North End offers an authentic Italian experience that many diners adore. Guests rave about the "fabulous as always" food, particularly the "amazing" lobster ravioli and "delicious" handmade pastas. The service is often praised as "spectacular," and the "lovely space" adds to the charm. Many consider it a "go-to" spot for special occasions. However, some reviews note service inconsistencies and rushed dining experiences, so timing your visit might enhance the experience. Overall, it's a popular choice for Italian cuisine lovers.

It was a chilly and rainy night. We were seated at the edge of the outdoor tent where the cold draft could be felt by all of the seats. This was after we were walked through a maze inside and outside and ultimately brought to their dessert shop to wait for a table. They were unable to reseat us in a warmer area. Servers were distant and had a colder vibe - but were attentive and provided excellent recommendations. The food itself was superb and delicious. Served hot and fresh. We thought it was kind of odd that they didn’t have sprite/7up to serve. Would go again - probably in warmer weather or on a weekday.

I made a reservation for 4 weeks in advance as we were visiting Boston. I wouldn't let my dog eat at the table they tried to seat us at. We asked for a new table and were directed to another make shift table in the middle of the pathway of the servers. We simply walked out. They were busy but with reservations made so far in advance, I expected more.

We were very disappointed after a high recommendation from the Godfrey Hotel. They were unable to provide a cup of hot tea on a cold night, not even boiling water. The antipasto vegetables did not taste fresh or normal, the rabe and zucchini were unpleasant...whatever was added did not enhance them. The fruiti de mare was sparse on seafood. The veal steak was fried too hard and inedible, the fresh steamed broccoli rabe impossible to chew. I hope to have a better experience with Italian food before I leave Boston.

I feel this place is over rated. Pasta didn’t taste homemade, steak was tough and there’s no real ambiance to speak of.

Place was busy but check in process was very slow. Watched as others were seated even though we were told we were next. Food came out fast but was just ok. Calamari was overcooked. Staff was nice but don’t think we will be back.
