Tucked behind El Barrio Cantina in Long Beach, Tokyo Noir is an intimate 25-seat speakeasy with a side-alley entrance and world-class cocktail program, co-concepted by restaurateur/founder Jesse Duron and acclaimed mixologist Kevin Lee. As the only certified Ice Master outside of Japan, Lee has created a cocktail menu at Tokyo Noir that will make it a destination for serious bar culture fans, who want to experience the art and craft of cocktailing. The beverages are complemented by a robust izakaya-style menu from Chef Ulises Alfaro-Piñeda, with craveable small plates that go beyond bar snack expectations. As a whole, this discreet speakeasy concept will surprise locals and impress the industry.

Tokyo Noir’s ambiance evokes a sense of neighborhood comfort while remaining exclusive. The atmosphere, curated with dim lighting and moody decor, transports guests into a world of noir films and vintage Tokyo charm. With old-school hip hop playing, guests are invited to sip bespoke cocktails. We have a parking lot across the street. The entrance is the second door in the alleyway on the side of the restaurant. Under the red paper lantern. Please watch out for cars and once you press the button to get in, wait behind the light pole away from traffic for hostess to come get you.

Great experience, the ambiance was lovely. The bartenders are super invested in the experience and drinks they make. We had four cocktails altogether and they are all delicious (more spirit forward: The Nutorious and Hibiki Old Fashioned. Other cocktails: Astro Boy and Drunken Tiger). We also had the edamame which was literally the best edamame we've both ever had. It was roasted and had a delicious lemon and chile taste. I loved their music too, they played old hip hop and rap that was super vibey.

Tokyo Noire has the ability to fly you to Japan without the long turbulent ride. The drinks were excellent and the service top notch. The atmosphere was undoubtedly personal and joyous. The only weird thing was not being able to be responded to in a timely manner as my husband and I were waiting outside for good 8 mins before anyone answer the door. We were on the brink of walking away.

Tokyo Noir felt like a classy bar more akin to New York than a Long Beach alleyway. Between 5 drinks and 2 appetizers, nothing fell short of expectations, and most exceeded them. The service was intimate and engaging. The ambiance was unique and hard to find in this part of town. I thoroughly enjoyed the small capacity and do not like an overcrowded bar. It was classy and elegant - perfect for a date. I will definitely be coming back (if I can get another reservation, that is).

Fantastic addition to the LB bar scene. They have definitely captured the Japanese vibe and aesthetic, with a great variety of ingredients and a unique selection of stellar cocktails. I tried three different drinks, and each one was quite tasty. I especially enjoyed the Juice Theory, which used fermented tomato to add in a complex level of umami, which was a refreshing change of pace from the sweet drinks I'm used to. The izakaya-inspired bites were also quite tasty and unique. I usually stick to tiki bars when going out for cocktails, but this is definitely going on my short lists of places to return to.
