   Exquisite program chef Paul has assembled. We sat at the hand roll bar. Seaweed wrappings were crunchy. Tuna was vibrant. Yellowtail Sashimi melts in mouth, was quite provocative sensually. The atmosphere has that “the place to be” energy. Roe was on top. Our server, Gage, was delightfully attentive.

   The food was so great and all dishes had a slightly different spin or flavor that other places don’t. Ambience was amazing!

   I had high expectations for this place but there seems to be little to know focus on ambiance or service for the handroll bar. I was optimistic after sitting in the bar lounge for handroll bar seats to open up. The bar lounge is warm, lively and the bartenders are great but that’s where it ended. Once we arrived to the handroll seating, it was oddly lit. It feels cold and an afterthought. The cook has zero interactivity with guests and just would place the hand rolls. I’m used to the interaction with the chefs/cook being super fun and part of the experience. It was so stiff and impersonal. The rest of the dining room was super empty and quiet. I wish the rest of the restaurant matched the bar lounge.

   Great variety and everything we tried (pretty much 75% of the menu) was delicious. Some items were out of stock, such as 2-3 sake selections, desert options, etc but I don’t expect 100% smooth operation within the early days of opening. The dry aged fish is great and I hope they expand those options! The main dining area has a dead space up against the back wall making the design a bit awkward, but perhaps it’s just temporary. Looking forward to trying the hand roll bar next time around. Best of luck!

   Arrived at was greeted by the host & sat at the bar. The servers voice was low and I couldn’t hear her without leaning forward due to the loud music. The cook didn’t show any enthusiasm while preparing hand rolls nor did he interact with the guest (I’ve worked in the industry for many years as a cook, and open concept cooks are supposed to engage with guest). The cook also kept wiping his wrist in his brow, he did have gloves on his hands, but that wasn’t acceptable. The food was decent, but felt like it was missing a wow factor. The fish in the rolls was very cold, and the avocado was skimpy. Not once did the server ask if everything was ok, until we were paying our bill. I still tipped, but to be honest didn’t think a tip was deserved as we didn’t really receive service other than our food being prepared. As we were walking out, two employees were chatting by the curtain entrance, and we went the wrong way through the curtain because they were too distracted to point us in the right direction. The vibe isn’t the best for a date. I wouldn’t go again, instead go to “little nishi” or drive to Houston.

    We tried it for the first time last night. It's a brand new place with excellent decor, very attentive staff, and a very cute manager who makes sure the whole place runs well. Try the tuna that comes on the little grill. But for sure try this place out if you like sushi.
