Perched on the mezzanine of The Connector at Winthrop Center in Downtown Boston, The Vermilion Club is Chef John Fraser’s modern take on a classic chophouse. The space exudes a vibrant energy, making it the ideal destination for all occasions. Named after Dale Chihuly's masterpiece sculpture above our 55-foot bar, The Vermilion Club embodies a design-forward ethos conceptualized by Thomas Juul-Hansen.

Chef Fraser's Mediterranean heritage shines through in the menu, featuring elevated steakhouse classics and Northeastern favorites. Beverage Director Amy Racine unveils an expansive cocktail lineup featuring over 70 meticulously curated cocktails, reintroducing classic cocktails with a contemporary twist. The pastry program is under the expert guidance of Chef Sofia Schlieben, and her large-format Caramelized Puff Pie takes center stage.

Welcome to the club.

This was our first time at Vermilion, and we will definitely be back! We went for a Christmas Eve lunch, and will return to try the dinner menu as well. Our lunch was fabulous and reasonably priced, especially excellent the food and service were. While it appears to be primarily a restaurant that specializes in steaks, at least for lunch we found the appetizers and side dishes to be superb as well. Cases in point: the broiled clams were so tasty, the French Onion Dumplings were delightful, and the Crispy Artichokes are a MUST! I had the French Dip, which was miles beyond any such sandwich I’ve had before: incredibly tender, on crispy yet light bread with Gruyère cheese and a perfect horseradish sauce on the side. (The skinny French fries that came with it were absolutely addictive.) My dining partner had the Spicy Steak Salad and he loved it. Our server Carlos was a true professional: gracious and attentive, knowledgeable about the menu and the wines, and happy to engage in conversation (though never intrusive). The location is great for me because I live and work near downtown and the Wharf District. The Vermilion is on the second floor of a new building, and you could easily walk past it if you weren’t looking for it specifically. Once inside, it’s quite comfortable and has a lovely island bar. The lounge-style seating is comfortable, classy yet relaxed. I look forward to visiting again, and can’t wait to try the dinner options!

The ambiance was great. They had an extensive cocktail menu and a very creative menu, with options I have not seen at other steakhouses. The first two cuts of steak I tried to order were sold out, but I think maybe because of the storm yesterday there may have been unusual circumstances. The appetizers (we got the steak tartare and cobb salad) were delicious! We also got the veal, NY strip, baked potato and brussels. Do not skip the brussels, the best side dish I have had at a steak house. Unfortunately my steak was not great, however it was the actual quality/cut of the steak, the way it was prepared was great. Again, I think there was unusual circumstances with the steak as snake river farms is the best, and the manager was AMAZING about rectifying the issue. We would definitely love to come back and try it again with the full steak menu available or even just at the bar for their amazing atmosphere and cocktail menu.

Sat at the bar, service was poor. We were basically ignored and had to ask to order drinks and food. The drinks were weak and the food was just ok, was expecting way better quality for the price.

Great food at brunch. Excellent espresso martinis. Zero buzz. Perhaps more lively in the evening.

The steaks were not very warm and mostly fat. For a steak house especially in the Finace district I expected a lot more. The lobster was fantastic and staff were great

The food was great, great atmosphere and great service. The drinks were also very tasty and would definitely recommend to go back. French onion dumplings were great, spiced Prime rib was great, along with the Manhattan, spicy margarita and white Russian.

Applebees quality food for Capital Grille money. Slow service, low volume (full price) drinks, thoughtless menu, undercooked (bland) food. Examples: - Tiny martini glasses that were half filled - Salmon that was served raw with uncooked Brussels sprouts - Seasoned prime rib that wasn’t seasoned and half fat - Truffle Mac and cheese that more closely resembles overcooked pasta and mayonnaise Dinner for 4 was $500 before tip and the only way I’d go back is if it were for a refund.
