Liam and the team behind The Boat are proud to bring to you a modern neighbourhood pub in the beautiful village of Barton-Under-Needwood.

Soak up sun in the garden with a cocktail, or in the winter find a seat inside next to the log burner. Our focus is on modern pub classics with a twist.

Offering breakfast at weekends and a classic Sunday Lunch. We also have space for hire, for private parties, birthdays, meetings or even to kick back for a sporting event.

Inspired by Betty and Peggy our 4 legged residents at our sister restaurant The Boat, where we’ve cultivated our land for crops and created a sustainable eco-system with a focus on reducing waste.

    We are bringing the best of The Two Pigs to you. Indulge on the evening of Wednesday 30th of April with our 4 four course tasting menu offering. Priced at £55 per person. This menu has been created by our head chef Beth Hipwell with locally scoured produce and turning them into exquisite dishes with that local village pub twist.     Lovely setting, great ambiance i think the meals are fairly small and possibly the staff are all fairly young and as engaging as they are they don’t have the experience needed to explain the food properly, I will certainly go back and give it another try though

    Birthday and Easter celebration with family x7 of us. Good, warm welcome. Great food/drinks. All round nice experience. However, 2 of the party are veggies and there was no choice on a Sunday just butternut squash. No protein for veggies either so not nutritionally complete (tofu, beans, lentils, nut roast etc) so I personally wouldn’t return with this limitation. On the whole we had a nice time.

    We had breakfast at the two pigs and it was lovely. Well cooked breakfast and the staff were great definitely recommend

    The food was excellent My main issue is that there were groups of Young people in the bar area where we sat pre meal VERY LOUD and profanities. The same on the way out. The upstairs dining area where we sat there was no problem at all . I don’t like this and I could certainly not bring my parents here. I think they should decide whether this is a refined restaurant or a pub.

    Good service, nice surroundings, value for money. T bone steak to share meat was very good but was not cooked hot enough to crisp up the fat.

    I made a booking and explicitly made you aware one guest was a vegan. When we arrived there was no vegan option and they were offered toast or the full English with just the tomatoes, mushrooms and baked beans for the same price as a full English. One staff member offered to pop to the local Coop to fetch vegan sausages. Whilst the breakfasts were nice and good quality they were small portions but high end prices compared to other venues in the village. The young man that served us was really good and we can’t fault the service.
