   Good food and friendly service. Very nice starters but the fish was a little dry. One of ou party was vegetarian and didn’t feel there was much choice

   Service and staff polite. Food very poor, basic and not particularly tasteful. Sorry won’t eat there again.

   With one of our partty disabled and one needing gluten free, we found the whole experience very good. Food was excellent, good size portions and value for money.

   Had a lovely lunch with friends we go on holiday with and I have to say it was a brilliant 3 hrs Staff food service all A1 👌👍👏

   It had been a while since we'd been to the Sussex Oak for Sunday lunch and sad to say it will be longer before we come back. Overall it was a disappointing experience. The service was friendly enough but chaotic and despite plenty of staff being around, it was sometimes hard to get attention. As to the food, the crispy halloumi stick and olives were fine, but the rest was disappointing: overcooked, dry and tough beef and a very average nut roast from the too-limited Sunday roast menu, only beef, pork or nut roast. We were told the beef was just cooked one way, all the same - and to be fair, the next table also complained about theirs in similar terms. The apple crumble desserts were mushy in texture and bland in flavour. It all could and should have been so much better.
