   We had a lovely evening at The Surprise, and the food was outstanding. Service was welcoming and friendly and the staff were efficient. We have dined at the Surprise several times in the past few years and it never disappoints.

   A cozy little spot that was rammed with locals and their dogs upon entry, but that only added to the pleasant pub atmosphere. The food is excellent with very friendly staff, though the scallops special should perhaps be listed as a singular delicious scallop.

   We had to wait for an hour and a quarter before we were served our food last night. The staff were very politely when I asked after waiting an hour when we could expect our order. I was given 2 reasons; the change of menu and there was a large party upstairs. We were on the point of leaving when the food arrived. We are locals and expect to dine fairly regularly at The Surprise. I have no complaint about the food which was goo/ very good nor the quality of the service apart from the slowness.

    Great place … Very busy so definitely needs booking, but the food was lovely as was the service - thoroughly enjoyed it.
