Booked a table at 5pm for food and drinks before a show at the sunderland empire, when we got there there was people sat in the seat that was reserved for us and when got to sit down we were told they don't serve food till 6pm as it was a match day and all we could get was a slice if pizza. This was never stated when booked and as a result we struggled yo get a reservation elsewhere at short notice, not the service or experience we were hoping to have.

A lot of things on menu not available. We were there for dinner starting so not like they had ran out. Food wasn’t that nice either. Kids enjoyed their pizza, I had salt & chilli chicken topped fries which was luke warm fries topped with dry chicken slices covered in sweet chilli sauce. Nothing like menu described. We also ordered a fish finger sandwich which the fish was nice but literally 2 small fish strips in a bun with like warm fries at the side. Not impressed for the price tbh. Came to order desert for kids. From the 3 options on menu only 1 available. I get the impression they do food to say they do it but not actually bothered. I’d go back for drinks but not for food. Left £80 lighter & disappointed.

Beautiful place live singer friendly staff - food is lovely but they struggled to cope with our group of 10 eating - food didn’t come out together although they did say they had an issue with the pizza dough

We visited as a family of 4 for a pre theatre meal Sunday lunch. Service was brilliant food was beautiful. The servers were friendly we had special requests as my daughter has autism and doesn't cope with certain food of thing touching all of which were accommodated perfectly. My daughter is also selective mute the servers were brilliantly patient asked me how to sign to her when she'd signed thankyou. Spoke to her directly and waited for her response often places with speak to me and not to her highly recommend this place

Really unfortunate experience, the pub just don’t seem to have their processes right yet at all. There did seem to be enough staff working but none of them managed to actually look after our table, make sure we had a drink and had placed our food order (the food was ok but nothing spectacular at all) - then the process of getting a bill and paying made us feel close to walking out (which we could have easily done as nobody seemed to have eyes on us as customers.) Overall, a lovely looking place but not one that deserves our custom yet, an experience that felt like a staff training day with nobody in charge and I know we’re not the only people to have left or been close to leaving as it seems so hard to get served. I do genuinely hope the pub makes their investment work but recruitment of experienced staff and leaders would seem to be a priority before it’s too late.

We arrived for our booking, it was so busy and it was difficult to get to speak to anyone, one thing that jumped out to us was that nobody was actually eating, only drinking. Ambience - city centre drinking pub not an eating establishment on a Saturday early evening. I decided to ask the doorman - other gentleman who worked there confirmed the kitchen was closed, there had been a problem and “to be honest you wouldn’t have eaten what was coming out of there, so I have closed the kitchen and told them to get their **** together. I have no idea what time it will reopen” All I can say is I certainly wasn’t disappointed!! Couldn’t or wouldn’t help with recommending anywhere else - both he and the doorman didn’t know the area that well. Even if the kitchen had been opened I doubt the experience would have been good No recommendation for food but perhaps if you are looking for a lively drinking place

We made a reservation for food to be told when we arrived that “someone must of sat at your table”. Luckily a table became free so we sat there. The kitchen had to close and staff didn’t know when this would re open. Asked staff several times and was told “they had no idea” as there was a mad dash on the morning and they had ran out of stuff. So we left disappointed and not a great first impression.

First time eating here. Service was slow abd a few mistakes with order but I would put this down to teething problems after just recently opening. Staff still learning how to do the job and use systems, etc. Food was really good and would definitely come back just maybe not on a Friday night for food as it is quite loud and more drink focused. Will be a really popular and busy addition to the city.
