It was so cold in the restaurant - had to keep my coat on. Friendly efficient staff tho.

Booked for a Sunday lunch. The staff accommodated our request for an alternative table without any fuss. The lamb roasts ordered were simply superb, roast potatoes and veggies cooked to perfection and our chosen desserts just right. Only downside was by the end of our time there we were beginning to feel chilly where we were sitting, the restaurant was cold.

We enjoyed the pies, two of us had cottage and the other had the lamb and apricot pie. They were a good option on the lunch menu and came with vegetables. They were quite reasonably priced. The staff were helpful but service was a bit slow when it came to water for the table and sauces.

Reliable, consistent pub grub with plenty of options. Portions are very generous, so excellent value. A good, practical option for lunch / meet ups during the day because of its location. There is a good selection of ales on tap and an extensive wine list. Service was polite but a bit lacklustre, I think because of the inexperience of staff. The coffee machine at the bar is noticably noisy - so ask to be seated elsewhere if that might be tricky for maintaining conversation!

Ordered the Angus sirloin beef sandwich and the Cajun chicken sandwich with fries. The beef was the poorest bit of meat I’ve ever had! Fatty and chewy with little to endear it to the pallet! The chicken sandwich was so oily that BP tried to erect a rig on it. Service was a little slow tho not the worst but it wasn’t busy. The staff were quite indifferent to our observations regards the food when mentioned at the table! There then seemed a reluctance to tend our table thereafter so eventually I had to go in search of a member of staff in order to settle the bill. Also note that this establishment offer the silly smaller 200ml bottles of Diet Coke instead of the proper 250ml ones… WHY? Inside is a little unwelcoming and the heating could do with being cranked up a notch or three! Take your cardy is my advice. We did complain to the manager upon leaving about our experience. He was very nice & apologetic but by then the damage had been done. Over all, a poor experience, poor food & poor service… best avoided!

Arriving at 12 noon on a Monday for lunch and finding the place rather cheerless we wondered if we'd made a mistake. The staff weren't very attentive but we decided to settle down as we'd made the booking. In fairness the food more than made up for the doubts we had. Delicious tasty and beautifully presented. I would recommend here, but perhaps go a little later when other were dining, for lunch another time.

The place is tired and very dirty looking with no ambience. The food is very basic especially given the price and low on flavour. We had main courses and didn’t finish them as they weren’t good. The staff didn’t know the menu very well and the simplest of drinks order needed an explanation and clarification. The staff came across as bored and fed up. Definitely will not be baiting again and wouldn’t recommend.
