   Absolutely great time and the carvery was first class plenty of meat and vegetables couldn’t of asked for any more

   Carvery pork ok but beef awful. Paper thin and pink. Hard to cut up. Wont be visiting any time soon. My partner left all her beef. No thick cuts of beef like at another establishment we visit.

   We cook our beef medium rare, this is how the vast majority of our customers prefer it. It is very evident on the carvery deck that it IS rare, and there is a choice of 3 other meats if you prefer your beef cooked another way. If had of spoken to the carver (they are all very friendly), they will happily slice your meat how you wished, but our default is relatively thin slicing, again matching most of our customers preference. They would even cut your beef from the thinner, well done end of the joint if you ask.

   We had the Sunday Carvery. The meat was lovely and so were the vegetables although not very hot. The roast potatoes however were disappointing. The staff were friendly and quick to serve us. If you do not want to eat with lots of dogs then this is not the place for you. However, if you are happy to have everyone's pooch barking intermittently throughout your lunch then this is the place for you.

   Hi Helen, thank you for your review, and I am glad you enjoyed most of your carvery. I am not sure what happened with your roast potatoes as usually they are extremely popular, so I can only apologise if you didn't find them satisfactory on your visit. We make no secret of the fact we are a VERY dog friendly pub. We have a sign at the front of the pub to this effect, as well as a dog menu in the bar, and dogs are incredibly welcome. You are absolutely right, if you are uncomfortable in the proximity of dogs, our pub is not for you. (We can't please everyone!). We do ask our dog owning customers to ensure they are well behaved, and will take steps to prevent or remove dogs that are causing a persistent nuisance to other customers.

   Lovely meal at the Smuggler's. We were looked after very well and had the added bonus of an open mic night after our meal. Highly recommended!

   There were no walk ins for the carvery due to how busy they were, booking a table is advised and the only way to guarantee getting a carvery. The food and staff are lovely here.

   Food OK but unfortunately only one person serving food and doing the bar so our experience wasn't the best. A good variety of meals on the menu including separate vegetarian & GF options. Dog friendly too. Nice friendly atmosphere. Hopefully next time there'll be an extra person working so we can have dessert.

    Welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, nice food good old pub food experience. Would recommend for families as the price is family friendly.
