   Such a lovely carvery and my dog enjoyed hers! It was my husbands birthday so they set the table up with a birthday card and sparkles on the table.

   We had a special 70th birthday lunch with friends. I'd booked online in advance and was so pleased to arrive and find Happy Birthday greetings on our table! The specials board was extensive and the choices we made were absolutely delicious and presented beautifully. The staff here are really lovely, attentive and friendly. A great celebration lunch Thank you!

   The meat severed on the carvery was awful .. blood pouring on my plate .. 5 people had the carvery and 5 people didn’t eat the meat.

   Claire, thank you for your review. There is always a choice of 4 different meats on our carvery, including our roast beef which we do usually cook medium-rare. There were 3 other choices, including roast turkey, glazed gammon and roast pork. If none of your group liked their beef cooked pink, I'm not sure why you would all have chosen it instead of one or more of the three other meats. To say the meat was awful is not really a fair statement, you just unfortunately chose to be served from a joint of meat that was visibly and obviously not cooked the way you prefer your meat to be cooked.

   Our Sunday carvery lunch at The Smugglers Inn was really good. The food was excellent, as was the service, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back!

   We have been coming to the Smugglers for over 5 years and it's always been great. Tonight was awful. We waited over an hour and the restaurant was not busy. There was no communication from the kitchen and we were clearly overlooked. When we enquired, no one seemed to know what was going on and there was no manager to speak to. We had to leave and find somewhere else to eat. Real shame.

   Glenn, We can only apologise and say that we were left unexpectedly short staffed due to staff illness on the day of your visit. However, in mitigation, while you say we were not busy, we served over 150 covers on that Saturday, our pub is very large seating over 200, and can appear quiet in areas, even when we are actually very busy. At the time you ordered, there was a wait on food of 45 to 60 minutes. This should have been communicated to you at the time you ordered, and we are refreshing our training to make sure that these communications are made consistently. Again, our apologies. We do find it disappointing that this is the only review you have left for us, despite your previous seven "great" visits, which all seemingly went unreviewed. Not exactly balanced in your reviewing.

    Always a nice place to visit, super dog friendly. They had run out of the vegan patty so I just piled my plate with carvery veg and gravy. The staff understand allergies and cross contamination. The pub is right next to a dog friendly beach
