Great service and food. Staff were extremely thoughtful as they had a supper with Santa that we did not know about, my daughter was very scared of Santa as she is only 2, so the safe moved us to an area that wouldn’t mean her seeing him. All the other kids loved Santa.

Lovely experience, spacious dining room with good sized tables and chairs. The meal was excellent with just the right portion size for us. Wish we had selected the festive menu after seeing other tables though but good excuse to go again. Overall excellent, thank you

Four of us had a 2 course lunch at an afternoon Michael Bublé tribute event. The food is good quality pub food, and the service was attentive. The Ship is an attractive pub in a lovely village and has recently been taken over by a lovely young couple who are trying hard to bring it back up to its former reputation. They are doing well so far and we plan to visit again soon. We had a very enjoyable afternoon.

We returned after sometime for an evening meal. Lovely welcome from Joe and Amy and the Ship itself was decorated beautifully, the fire was on and music playing. All the tables were laid and it looked so inviting. Just what you need on a cold winters night. There were four in our party and we ordered calamari, pasta with chicken in a cream and white wine sauce, sea bass on a bed of risotto and gammon. The food arrived promptly after ordering and it was utterly delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection. The drinks were brought to the table along with the wine and we finished with cocktails and coffee. Nothing was too much trouble. Great atmosphere, wonderful hosts and excellent service. What a joy it is to have this beautiful pub back up and running so well. It will not be long before we are back for a return visit.

Generally it was good, food was tasty and hot, wasn’t waiting around forever for it to arrive. However when the last plates are cleared from the food you ordered it appears they are of the opinion that they’re done. We never order dessert until the meal is finished just in case we ain’t got room for it. Eventually got someone to drop off the menu and yes we were going to share one. After waiting a long time and not seeing a single member of staff we decided to pay and leave. There is one vital bit of service they lacking which is checking that their customers are being catered for on every level.

Went for Sunday Lunch with family and we all ordered Roast Beef Dinner, unfortunelty we was so disappointed with the quality...the beef was extremely tough you could not cut through it (it was also thin) and when eventually broke off a piece the taste was disgusting and chewy. Then we tried the parsnip and again could not cut into it; the cabbage and leaks we very sloppy, so overall a very bad experience and unfortunelty will not be returning which is a shame as the surroundings inside are great, a proper traditional pub. The chef should always check his food before serving and this should not of left the kitchen. The front of house lady was helpful and apologised and we didn't have to pay but lets hope they improve for the future so the pub remains open...!

Booked a table through OpenTable for last Sunday. Arrived at restaurant 10 mins before booking only to find that it was closed. No notice on the door to advise why shut. Very disappointed & spoilt our celebration.

We arrived at 19:10 having booked a table for 7 people at 19:15. On arrival the car park was empty but the pub lights were on. We tried to enter the pub but all the doors were locked and there was no one available. It was disappointing that we weren’t informed about the closure given that we had booked a table. It isn’t easy to find an alternative table, for 7 people, at that time on a Thursday evening!!!

Was not told on ordering the beef was brisket only when the food was delivered. The taste was a smoky barbecue. Not what you expect for a Sunday lunch. Cauliflower cheese was dry with not much taste and potatoes were very hard. Did not expect peas with a roast. Did not complain at the time as the staff were very nice!
