Tucked away on the second floor of the Austin Proper Hotel is The Quill Room, an intimate music lounge with stunning views of the iconic Butterfly Bridge. Designed by Kelly Wearstler, the space is a balance between Southern charm and refined modernism, with inspired, original furnishings sourced from Europe as well as the famed Round Top Antiques Market that reflect design through the ages. Great drinks, nice vibes - food was tasty but menu was very limited. It’s a small space so the music was very loud, but the DJ was good! Pricey for what we got!

Everything here was incredible. The service, drinks, the appetizers, and ambiance. Loved that they could make us drinks that weren’t on the menu. People watching was a 100. Next time I’m in Austin would love to go back.

We came here, not knowing what to expect, we are just staying at the hotel and had stumbled upon some live music. It was a super intimate vibe. Incredible service. Low light, lounge feel. Cocktails were incredible. Would definitely come back if you’re looking for a chill vibe and craft cocktails. Can’t rave enough about the service.

My husband and I really went to The Quill Room to see local singer/songwriter duo. We decided to get there early and eat before the show started. The menu is very limited (especially if you have food allergies). I know the Proper Hotel is super fancy, but the prices are outrageous for the quantity. We had 3 drinks (two glasses of wine and one NA cocktail) and three appetizers. The bill was $170 before tip (and we tip 20% and higher). The valet is over $30. We basically paid Moody Center prices for a hotel show! There were a lot of staff present and our table was kept clean, but like most places in Austin, the server was too cool to be serving tables and wasn't very helpful or knowledgeable. We loved seeing our local musicians but if we ever go back, we will eat elsewhere first and opt for water! The atmosphere is lovely. The hotel and the spaces are beautiful, no arguing that. The lobby bar/restaurant was very busy and also deafening. You would have to shout across the table to hear anything. The Quill room was a bit quieter, but also not as well attended.

Terrible. Food was greasy and dj did not start on time. Will never recommend it or go back again. I planned my night with high expectations about this place.
