We’ve had Sunday lunch with you before and it was lovely. However this Sunday the food and service was not so good. We came early evening and were guessing the food was coming to an end. Disappointing

New team, but very professional and friendly staff, from owners to all the support staff. Lovely atmosphere.

We wanted to support the re-opening of the pub and given the social media comments were hoping for a warm and vibrant atmosphere. Sadly we were disappointed with the lack of greetings and absence of customers. I’m afraid it felt as if the new managers did not have an understanding of what running a pub/restaurant is all about. True, there was a fabulous girl singing in the bar and there were some spectacular but completely unnecessary balloon arches but otherwise it was shocking. The waiting staff were very inexperienced and this showed in the taking of orders and the delivery of food. Our concern started with the lack of customers, with every single dining table being empty at 2pm only to be followed by being told there was only one type of red wine, which was a very average Cabernet Sauvignon. The food menu was disappointing with pre-opening advertising suggesting a Viking themed twist which was pretty much non-existent. We ended up ordering fish and chips and a flatbread with hummus and truffle fries. The fish was a poorly fried frozen battered fish and the chips were too large to be even called chunky. It was served on a wooden platter with no lining paper which personally I don’t feel is very hygienic. In fairness the serving of mushy peas was nice and the homemade tartare sauce good. Then again disappointed to be given condiments in sachets. The humus was bland and the truffle fries were again oversized and sadly lacking in truffle flavour. The desert menu is equally disappointing leading off with a standard selection of children’s desserts followed by a list of adult ones all priced at £10 each. Needless to say we did not try any of these. The chef was wondering around and was the most friendly member of staff however it is quite off putting seeing him wearing dirty chefs whites and sweating profusely. I genuinely hope these are all teething problems that can be resolved because the Queens Head is a nice venue in a great location.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, especially during our grand opening, which was exceptionally busy having just moved in. We truly appreciate your support and feedback, as it helps us improve. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the live music; however, we are sorry to learn that the overall experience did not meet your expectations. Our staff were jovial and preparing for a busy day, hence the decorations but it seems that this energy did not translate into the warm atmosphere we strive to create. We are in the process of settling in and fine-tuning our offerings. Our opening menu will change inline with the stories of the Vikings travelling and they will change on a cycle, whether it be al a carte or indeed international street food. Thank you.
