A rural public house serving local beers, Berkshire gin and ciders, as well as a great wine selection. Bar snacks and full meals available 7 days a week. Cooking over a central grill makes for great theatrical cooking from our open-plan kitchen, overseen by Head Chef Nick Galer.

Whilst a subtle Basque feel will permeate throughout, its roots are firmly founded on those of a classic English pub – so while featuring top end Basque dishes fit for a destination dinner, it also offers simple pub snacks for a light lunch… while the food may be inspired by the Basque country, the ingredients are local… and while the wines may be sourced from Iberia, the beer is very much English.

The crowning glory is the sensational open kitchen, with a huge, CHARCOAL FIRED parilla grill and a BRICK OVEN as its centrepiece and all in front of the guests – very visual and very theatrical.

The Pot Kiln has been a really exciting project, and we’re thrilled to be finally open.

Beautiful well prepared food presented by friendly staff. The best cooked prawns I have had in a long time (and I am Australian!). Will definitely be going back regularly.

Would highly recommend. Fine Spanish dining in a cozy country pub. All the dishes we tried were outstanding. Will try the rest of the menu the next time we visit.

This was our first time back since the change in ownership. Whilst we were sad that the famous roast sharing plates, especially the venison roast, had disappeared (the lamb and beef ones on the current menu are completely different versions, we were told at the restaurant), we embraced the change and ordered a selection of 6 tapas together with their slow roasted pork ribs. Everything was superb, and several were accompanied by incredible home made "ketchups", of which the date and raisin (I know, sounds horrible, but was delicious) blew our minds...they should bottle it and sell it. Service was attentive and friendly. We were there for lunch on a weekday and it was fairly empty, but I expect and hope it will become more busy. Whilst nothing will fully replace, did I say it already, the amazing roast sharing plates of the old Pot Kiln, the loss of which we will forever mourn, the new Pot Kiln has definitely won a place on our list of favourites.

The setting, the ambiance, the food and the service was exceptional! We will be back. This was not just a pub lunch it was a culinary delight. We were made very welcome with excellent service and the setting was beautiful even in a rainy February day.

We have known this pub for 40 years and it was a gem. Sadly now it is too clinical with no atmosphere. The food was average and unnecessarily expensive. Staff were good and attentive but with wine, over £50 a head is too much in my opinion.

We have been to The Pot Kiln twice now and it never disappoints. Restaurant and staff very welcoming with a great atmosphere. Menu had changed which is nice to see and the food was amazing. Love to see the chefs in the open kitchen working there magic. Would highly recommend this to anyone and we are definitely coming back.

We started with the Tapas and each dish was very good. The main of a big dish of Fish stew was good in quality and variety of fish but somewhat overpowered by the thickness and strong flavour of the sauce. We were also disappointed by the small size of the Basque cheese cake we chose to share for dessert. The expresso coffee was excellent. The cost was reasonable to rather high. The service was excellent. The young waiter knew the menu well and was very personable. We have been before and the overall experience was not as good as the first time.
