Very disappointed this time. Took friends after recommending it to them. Prawn cocktail looked like nothing I have seen before. Few small shrimps! Smaller portion steak pie more pastry than meat and huge mound of red cabbage. Carrots sliced diagonally -Huge not appealing. Fish and chips dry. Disappointing after several excellent meals. Waitress very pleasant

Lovely pub. We weren't there for a Mother's day meal, it was the only time long distance relatives could all get together. However we only had the choice of the Mother's day menu which makes very limited. None of the usual favourites such as burgers or lasagne or meat pies which the men were hoping for. Everything else was lovely, but the limited menu (pretty much roast or vegetarian pie) was disappointing.

We were greated warmly then asked to get a drink at the bar as the table was not quite ready,We did this ,I did feel the price of a coke for my daughter was very expensive. We waited about 5 minutes then I asked if our table was ready as it was our time we had booked,After another 5 minutes it was ready. Our orders were taken after a short wait and the food arrived promptly. All the meals were correct and well presented,I did have to ask for a jugof gravy as I had a roast dinner with just a dribble of gravy on my meat.I ordered a small plate but it was still a decent size.We were offered the pudding menu and some of us ordered pudding. These cam e correct and well presented. All the food was delicious. We asked for the bill and also had a suprise of a cracker each for the mums because it was mothers day.My daughter was also happy with the sweets we recieved with the bill.

My friends and I go to The Plough for a catch up a few times a year. One of my friends is vegetarian and can always find something to eat so she is happy with going there. The only issue we had was that the portions of vegetables are very small, we would prefer more.

While the food is good the service is very poor. We arrived for our reservation to be told our table was not ready. No problem, we waited in the bar for 25 minutes and then went back to find they’d forgotten about us and had no table for us. They eventually found us a table, but it wasn’t laid up fully and they didn’t sort it out. We then waited another 15 minutes before we gave up and went to the bar to get someone to take our food order. After our food arrived we again waited for a very long time and eventually had to call someone over to order the children’s ice creams. They then came out with the wrong flavours. We asked for dessert menus and waited 15 minutes for those. After another 20 minutes we gave up, went to the bar to pay and had dessert and coffee at home. I’m not very impressed with the service at all. Last week I was there someone ordered a slice of cake only to be given a plate and told “you’ll have to pick it up with your fingers, I don’t know where the tongs are” he also wasn’t offered any cutlery to eat his cake with. Such a shame as the pub is lovely.

Often visit the Plough when visiting my father in Soton. On out last visit the menu seemed much smaller in choice and the food was just average but service was good.

The coq au vin was tasteless .the chicken tough and the cabbage not cooked enough. The mushroom was swamped with pasta and very little sauce. The desserts were very nice.

Service was slow, especially the time taken for food to be brought out and the pub wasn't busy at the time. It took an hour for our food to come out which resulted in us having to rush our meals due to needing to get my daughter to work
