   Lovely place, great surroundins and atmosphere, very pleasant and helpful staff and very good good. Excellent burger, real chargrilled beef flavour. Will go again. Another table had a noisy young dog.

   Service was pretty poor, food order taken incorrectly and took a long time to arrive. Food was pretty standard but reasonably priced at least

   Not serving cocktails and hardly no food choices on the menu! When food eventually arrived it wasn’t worth the money!

   We were initially disappointed as we went for steak after looking at the menu online. But when we got there they were running a reduced menu do to being in middle of ownership change. The staff were friendly, helpful, and the food was fine, just not what we wanted. But couldn't fault them working under pressure as busy night.

   On arrival there were no staff to greet us. After 5 minutes a young lady appeared from upstairs and was quite brusque in her manner, not a good start. The food was average at best, the chicken skewer was dry & definitely not freshly cooked. Our main course steak pie & frattata was adequate. Would we dine here again? No! The Plough was clearly understaffed on our visit with one young lady rushing about doing everything. Alnwick is a lovely town with far better places to eat.

   Arrived 10 minutes before our booking to be told the chef hadn’t turned up so we wouldn’t be served.was directed in to town to find somewhere else to eat.overall very disappointed!!!

   Staff very friendly and the service was good. Nice surroundings. Food tasty but small portion of lasagne. Restaurant was cold. Had to sit with my jacket on.

   Absolutely awful. Stater and main served together. Hot Stater cold as was peas on main course, chips not much better. Slack service and too cold to eat comfortably. Worst pub meal for a very long time. All other pubs / restaurants tried in Alnwick good to excellent.

   A last minute decision to dine and booked in without any problems. As this review's star rating reflects we had a good meal, courteously served and relatively quick - albeit the waiting staff delivered another table's dinner to us. The exchange was done with good humour. However, we chose to dine here on the basis that the website advertised a menu offer which, on arrival, we were told was out of date as it was now under new ownership - the menu was unchanged. Slightly irritating although we would go back if in the area (live 200 miles away).

    Maybe we hit on a bad day but the staff were obviously overworked and stressed, although polite to us. There were a lot of complaints about service and the food was not great for the money. If it was cheap pub prices I’d have been happy but the value wasn’t brilliant for the price. It needs someone to take charge and get more staff in to avoid some of the issues. People forgotten, not clear had to order at bar and ran out of food and some of the wine. Not great for a pub! I felt for the staff but would honestly not recommended based on my experience.
