About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Charming
  • Good for groups
The entire family is sure to enjoy Savannah's most intriguing & historic restaurant. At the Pirates' House, our most precious treasure is the food. Situated in Trustees Garden, merely a scant block from the Savannah River, the Famous Pirates' House is the most historic spot in Georgia. The Herb House, erected in 1734, located inside the Pirates' House, is said to be the oldest house in Georgia. The Pirates' House first opened in 1753 as an inn for seafarers and fast became a meeting point for blood-thirsty pirates & sailors. Parking on site.

Was surprised at the amount of food that was delivered on the plate. The meat was flavorful. The she crab soup and Savannah crab dip were spot on. I’d have preferred the mixed vegetables and broccolini cooked longer. The server was very attentive and made some good recommendations based on her tastes instead of what was popular. I’d recommend giving the place a visit if in town.

We truly enjoyed the Pirate’s House. The fried green tomatoes were good along with the meals. I had the she crab soup and my husband had the flounder. Definitely recommend.

We sat in the Herb House portion of the restaurant. It was a cozy space, and didn’t feel cramped, even when the tables were all full. The rest of the restaurant was noisy, but it wasn’t too bad where we were. Our party consisted of two adults and two children. The kids had a lot of fun, and enjoyed their meals immensely. The adults also enjoyed their meals - everything was delicious! We loved the service, and the pirate wandering through the building chatting with everyone.

We did make reservations so we were seated quickly. Our server, Tom, was attentive and informative. We liked the crab dip appetizer with pita triangles. We did not know they serve biscuits and cornbread otherwise we would have skipped the appetizer. The bread basket was delicious! My husband like his tilapia. I ordered the fried chicken. Beware .it's a lot of chicken!

This place was recommended to us by a friend who visited Savannah who really loved it. The history of the place was really cool and interesting. We went for the lunch buffet and the food was pretty good for a buffet. The server we had was new but you wouldn’t have known it. He did a great job. Overall a pretty cool place and the price was great!
