Fantastic steak and ale pie, complimented by gorgeous creamy mash. Wife’s smoked fish chowder equally as delicious. Lovely staff too.

The welcome by friendly staff and deliciously described menu choices were really good and the food was excellent. A little disappointed we couldn’t have the special crab soup but the rest was exceptional. The staff were so friendly and informed about the menu and history if the building. The whole experience perfect, so …. we booked for the following night and were told that whilst it was a traditional but special Sunday lunch menu all day, there would be special fish options, ie catch of the day, which is the only reason we booked. Sadly this was not the case! Sunday was very disappointing in many ways

Fantastic evening, my choice, which was chicken Kiev as I don’t see many places that do it, so I was really looking forward to it, but they didn’t have any! I was gutted, but had to quickly order something else which was gnocchi with chicken & my partner ordered fish & chips…the food was spot on & the staff were very attentive & friendly…would definitely recommend eating here…bonus was it was about a minutes walk from where we were staying too :)

Good food and service. Would’ve like to see gammon or steak as an option.

There were plenty of tables for 2 available throughout the time we were eating yet the waitress sat us next to a table with two toddlers whose behaviour was out of control so a relaxed Sunday lunch was more like a visit to the soft play!! We came last whilst on holiday and the food was amazing, however we were disappointed this year, the roast potatoes were hard with tough skins not crispy, the carrots mushy and over cooked whilst the cabbage was tough and crunchy, the turnip was so watery it was runny, last year the veg came separate in dishes not all on the plate which was too overcrowded it was difficult to try and cut the meat and Yorkshire pudding whilst keeping everything else on the plate. I ordered toffee apple crumble and ice cream which came in two dishes, one would have made it much easier to eat, also the toffee part of the toffee apple was missing! Last year we got 4 pigs in blankets this year we were down to three at a cost of £5.50 extra! All in all after paying £4.30 for a pint of poor quality cola and an overall bill of £64 very disappointing afternoon, certainly won’t be back and to think we were considering booking up for a Christmas dinner and festive stay over, think we’ve dodged a bullet there.

Well where do I start. First of all with the positives. The pub/restaurant looks fantastic. I ordered the pie of the day and one of my sons ordered the kids chicken burger, both were really good. My wife ordered the adults chicken burger and my other son ordered the fish goujons both of these were awful as they had clearly been cooked in dirty oil. This wasn’t an opinion it was a fact. I brought this to the attention of the duty manager and she said they must be okay because ‘nobody else had complained’ just because nobody else had complained does not mean it was okay. I asked her to look at the grease on the meals as it was foul, to which she told me I was foul. I was talking about the meals, to be told in front of my wife and 4 and 8 year old sons that I was foul was quite frankly abusive and not something I would expect anywhere. When the bill arrived a male waiter presented the bill to us. His manor was significantly better. My son’s meal had been deducted from the bill (continently it was the cheaper of the two). I made it very clear that I was not looking for a discount, I purely wanted to bring to the restaurants attention how bad some of our food was and it was because of dirty oil being used. I did not expect to be personally attacked. When the bill arrived the amount we were charged was more than the bill. I asked why and was told that a coffee we hadn’t asked for or received had been added to our bill. This was refunded, but only because I spotted it, I would not recommend this restaurant, which is a shame as it came highly recommended and Seahouses is beautiful.
