   Lovely venue, well presented. Food tasty (roast lamb) but unable to cut carrots or broccoli as undercooked, and too much gravy. (Would prefer gravy presented in a separate jug). Staff very attentive. Cannot comment on value as our mother paid for the meal.

   Staff appeared to be in a bad mood and rushed us through our meal. The meat was very chewy and the vegetables very hard. Waiter was not bothered when we complained. He didn’t even say sorry. He just walked away. Meal was expensive for what we got. I will not go back.

   Had a lovely birthday lunch with friends today, our waitress was a delight and the food was very good. Place was buzzing. Really enjoyable

   Food was delicious however service was appalling. They started off by giving us a different menu to the one online , which posed difficulties as one of our party didn’t eat meat and wanted fish . We waited ages for a drink , our starters were wrong and at the end of the meal we had to ask 3 times for our coffees . Such a shame as used to be an amazing place

   They have a new menu now - food’s still good but unfortunately most of the gluten free options have been removed. The sticky toffee pudding is no longer gluten free 🥲.

   Poor service had to wait 30 mins between courses and then had to chase waitress,my starter was a little cold and food generally was average.Just didn’t come away feeling we would wish to return.

   This was our 3rd visit since Christmas. We are not locals, it takes us 45 minutes to get there but it is 100% worth it. The staff are great, they are attentive but not over the top, your wine glass is never empty. We first took our Grandchildren for lunch just before Christmas, they live in Abridge so a great discovery for us, we then took friends in January and family in February, everyone has really enjoyed the experience and will all go back. The food has always been amazing. This is a gem of a place.

   The bar was packed but the restaurant was empty when we arrived. Getting service was difficult. When we got the menus they bore no resemblance to those on the website and in fact had we seen then prior to booking we would mot have booked, most disappointing. The wine menu simply had a list of varietals (merlot, shraz, pinot noir etc) and prices- glasses and bottles. When we asked for more information the waiter was unable to help and the manager told us nothing we couldn’t have worked out for ourselves such as primitivo comes from Italy, no idea about pinot noir etc. it could have come from anywhere. When the food arrived it was adequate. I had calves liver (i had to ask what liver it was) and it was overcooked. Although called the “New” Blue Boar there is nothing new about it that was an improvement. If you are looking for pub grub, it would be ok but we shall not be going there again. It wasn’t cheap either.

   This is the second time we have eaten here. We were impressed the first time and even more so this time. The food is amazing, we had a lovely bottle of Rose the service is great, attentive but not over the top. We will definitely be back.
