Old Town Scottsdale’s heart beats to a Latin drum at The Mission where renowned Chef Matt Carter (Zinc Bistro and Fat Ox) brings a modern twist to Latin cuisine blending influences from Spain, Mexico, Central America and South America.

Sip a signature margarita with unique flavors such as cucumber jalepeno or aguacate (yes, we said avocado) as you watch your Tableside Guacamole made to your taste from more than a dozen fresh ingredients.

Home made tortillas, and salsas are made fresh daily to accompany an assortment of meats and seafood prepared on a Plancha or a grill using pecan and mesquite wood that instills a rich flavor. And save room for dessert including our pumpkin bread pudding or expresso churros.

Food was fantastic and the decor is amazing! The tables along the wall are very close together and it’s quite loud in the restaurant so if you are looking for conversation or a bit more space, choose the outdoor seating.

Phenomenal. This restaurant was recommended to me by two completely unrelated people — one local and one from a different state. It did not disappoint. The tableside guacamole was to die for. The margaritas were fresh and perfectly balanced. And the short rib tacos were exquisitely seasoned and delicious. The service was top notch and the ambience casual but sophisticated. Highly recommend.

I have eaten at the Mission between five and ten times. I have never had a bad meal or experience. I was with my daughter it was her first time she loved it. Kennedy and the rest of the staff were great.

Restaurant was recommended. Food was average. Home made guacamole was the best item we had. I had the chorizo stuffed pork at the waiters suggestion. It was basically all chorizo and fatty pork. Tacos didn't have much flavor and needed extra salsa. Would not go back

The food and service were fantastic. It is a very dark restaurant, making it difficult to read the menu. Also, the noise level is fairly high. However, these are minor problems and the tacos are amazing.

The Mission never disappoints. The pork shoulder and steak tacos are so yummy. Server was awesome. Bartender prior to being seating was medium. I think he was having a bad day.

Got there at the beginning of lunch hour. Good attentive service. Food was so quick that it arrived right after our appetizer. Street corn was good but not exceptional. Seasoned fries were good with beautiful presentation but about half were stuck in a big ball. Skirt steak tacos were well flavored and excellent presentation but meat was a bit tough. The current open table average rating of 4.4 is just about right.

The staff was very kind and our reserved table was ready right when we arrived! The table side guac was amazing, maybe not worth $18 though. The tacos were very average, and underwhelming for the price we paid. They acknowledged our anniversary with a free dessert which was so nice, but the value just isn’t worth it the hype to me unfortunately.
