About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Charming
  • Neighbourhood gem
A traditional pub serving contemporary English food in the heart of Fitzrovia. The Lore is composed of The Pub on the ground floor, The Kitchen on the first floor and Private room with bar on the top floor.

All of our food is freshly prepared by Head Chef Michal Kaszuba and his brigade in the Lore kitchen on the first floor. Our menus have been created especially to reflect the seasons, when ingredients are at their very best.
Our legendary Sunday roast is slow-cooked with delicious trimmings.

THE PUB
A copper and pewter topped bar serving a range of beers, including our very own Gritchie brews, premium spirits, cocktails and selected wines. The walls are adorned with eclectic and original artwork.

THE KITCHEN
Open plan but still intimate. Experience the sight and sound of our open kitchen with the Chefs cooking on our bespoke, charcoal fuelled oven and char-grill.

THE PRIVATE ROOM
A wonderful private room with private bar on its own floor.

Does not live up to the hype We went as a family and have given this score as there is always room for improvement and the lack of vegetables offered with the roast, carrots nd peas only which is fine if you like these. We enjoyed our lunch but really did not think it was worth the wait having book over 6 months ago.

Amazing experience. Down to earth traditional pub. Attentive staff. Food was incredible with so much flavour. Oysters and duck scotch egg to start. Family style roast to share. Well worth the year waiting list. Will rebook for next year.

We were a group of 7 and everyone said it was the best roast dinner they have had - definitely recommend. The vegan option was delicious too. Staff very attentive and friendly hopefully can booked in to visit on a Sunday soon.

Honestly, not great. The Instagram reels and photos give the impression of a grand, buzzing venue, but in reality, it’s surprisingly small and lacks atmosphere. We had high hopes, especially given its connection to Guy Ritchie, but the experience didn’t deliver. Service was painfully slow—we had to wave down servers multiple times just to get basic attention. For a place positioning itself as premium, you’d expect staff to be a bit more attentive and engaged. Price-wise, it felt like style over substance. £14 for a Bloody Mary (which costs a fiver at Blacklock) and £64 for a bottle of wine that you could easily get for £40 elsewhere made it feel more like central Mayfair than Fitzrovia. The food was decent, but compared to Hawksmoor or Blacklock roasts, it just didn’t hold up—those places offer much more flavour, portion, and finesse. We’d waited nearly a year to try this spot and ended up with a £230 bill for two, walking away underwhelmed. A real shame.

Good food and service as always, well informed serving staff, like a second kitchen where we are spoilt with well thought out recipes! Wonderful to have an early reservation to enjoy the sunshine still when we leave!

I recently visited Lore of the Land for dinner and, as someone who prefers smaller portions, I opted for two starters instead of a main course. My meal began with Maldon oysters, which were impressively large, plump, and juicy. They were a delightful start to the meal, offering a fresh and satisfying taste. Following the oysters, I had the Cod Collar Tempura. This dish was a standout, with the tempura being incredibly light, crispy, and flavorful. The cod was cooked to perfection, maintaining its tenderness and taste. Despite having just two starters, the portions were ample enough to fill me up completely. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and would highly recommend these dishes to anyone visiting the restaurant. The staff were incredibly attentive, followed instructions about allergies and all served in a very timely manner; the staff and chefs are stand out material!
