The Longboard - Sullivan’s Island is the 2nd iteration of The Longboard concept, originally born on St. John [USVI], opened May 2015 in the heart of Cruz Bay. Like the flagship concept, the S.I. location offers light & health fares and creative cocktails inspired by coastal regions around the globe. This location also embraces the rustic, wood-fire cuisine of the group’s other Caribbean locale [The Easterly – St. Thomas], focusing on fresh & local seafood, handcrafted cocktails, and an extensive wine list... all with a Lowcountry focus in mind.

The salads, mussels and octopus were delicious. The restaurant decor is gorgeous, but the dining room is very loud. I’d like to come back and sit on the patio because the food is worth another visit.

The decor and reggae music at The Longboard were spot on, creating a laid-back, beach-like vibe that was both inviting and clean. The ambiance was definitely a highlight, making it feel like the perfect spot for a coastal dining experience. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. The food took an unreasonably long time to arrive, and our waitress seemed disengaged—except when it came time to collect payment. We started with raw oysters from South Carolina, which were, without a doubt, the best we’ve ever had—exceptionally fresh and full of flavor. However, the accompanying sauces were not to my liking. For my entrée, I ordered the surf and turf, which included steak and shrimp. While both were well-seasoned, they were sadly overcooked to the point of being tough and chewy. The broccoli, however, was a pleasant surprise—charred with olive oil and a touch of salt, it was simple but delicious. My husband went with the ribeye, which came with a thick, flavorful au jus sauce that he really enjoyed. Unfortunately, the steak itself was overly fatty and undercooked. Overall, while the atmosphere was fantastic, the service and execution of the food were disappointing. I won’t be returning, but my husband is open to giving it another try, as he really enjoyed the ambiance.

Only available seating was bar seating which we selected. Unfortunately we were seated at the very end of the bar looking into kitchen. There were many other desirable bar seats available. Highly disappointed in an open table reservation.

My husband and I both had the yellowfin tuna and both felt that it may have been the best we have ever had! Wonderfully tender and perfectly prepared. Everyone in our party of 10 was pleased with food, service and ambience. Would definitely put this at the top of my list when visiting Sullivan's Island!

Oyster Hour is $2 per Oyster, and they were small with very mild flavor, just meh. The salmon entree was not appealing to the eye and the broth was way too salty. Salmon itself was crispy and tasty but very small portion. No taste of coconut milk or cabbage, just salt. Menu left me struggling as to what to order. Lovely room but we will not return.
