The Lamp Room is a family run bistro holding a prime position on Seaham"s seafront with amazing views of the North East Coast. We pride ourselves on our fantastic freshly prepared food, locally sourced where possible and our friendly, approachable staff. During the day we serve a wide range of dishes including pasta, salads, burgers, paninis and sandwiches. Every Friday we serve Tapas which again is all prepared fresh on the premises and usually served to a full house of customers who offer great reviewsa and return again and again. We have a full alcohol licence and offer a concise selection of wines and beers. Cocktails are added to the menu to accompany Tapas on a Friday. Our Sunday lunches are substantial with fresh roast meats and seasonal vegetables and all the trimmings.

Lovely food once again at the lamp room. We visited this time for Sunday morning breakfast and we wernt disappointed.

My boyfriend and I went for tapas which we thoroughly enjoyed. We found the staff really friendly and even though it was a busy Friday night we were quick to be served. The restaurant is really nicely decorated and although small it is very well set out. We both would definitely go back.

If you are looking for something different I recommend the drive to Seaham and the Lamp Room. A bright warm friendly reception awaits you with attentive staff and a décor to match. We ordered the Surf n turf x 3 it was tasty the steak was cooked as we had asked, 1 x seafood linguini was nice but needed some seasoning as a little bland my 12yr old daughter enjoyed the seafood in it but commented that she had had better and it was bland. We certainly enjoyed our night and the atmosphere of the Lamp room., We could see the TAPAS that was being served to the other tables around , This has left us wanting to return to sample the towers of Tapas treats. We have already told our friends about the food and restruant and have urged them all to book and try. Thank you Lamp Room for a good time and good food and wine well worth the 46 mile round trip.

I took my daughter here for a birthday lunchtime treat and we thought it was great. I had the seafood chowder from the special's board which was delicious. We also had a cheeky cocktail as it was a special occasion, even though they are normally only sold on an evening - the lovely waitress made an exception for us! I would definitely recommend this little gem of a place :-)

This was our first visit to the Lamp Room and we would return and recommend it to others. The food was beautiful, plentiful and filling and there was a lot of it - so much of it that we had to take the cakes home as we couldn't finish them. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and polite and the ambiance of the place contemporary and really nice. There are two points though that left us a little disappointed, these aren't criticisms but are something hopefully the Lamp Room will take on board. Whilst the service was good it was unfortunately slow (and it wasn't a really busy time - 3.30 PM). Once seated, we waited 10 minutes for our tea to be brought but then had to wait another 20 minutes for the actual food to be brought to the table - by this time my tea was cold and my wife had drank her hot chocolate and then had to buy another drink to have with her food. I did get a complimentary replacement tea but it all seemed a bit out of sync somehow. With our meal we got a homemade fruit scone (which was absolutely delicious), with jam and cream but the jam was very runny and extremely difficult to spread. We also got a cheese scone but got no butter to go with it and there was no labeling - a bit of a mix up perhaps but it did tarnish the overall experience which was for a special occasion. That said we would go back and we would recommend it to others.

Fantastic seafood and tapas. Staff were very accommodating but not pushy. Have a really pleasant evening. Will definitely be going back again.

My only complaint is I was unable to have an item from the lunch menu( halloumi wrap, it's gorgeous) as it was only 11.30. So disappointed.
